I never said my officials should use the Bible but while on the topic our country would be much better off if we used many Biblical principles in our society. As you have stated you don't have a problem with people having more than one wife our with people using drugs so I wouldn't expect you to agree with me on anything. One small example- if we as a society only had sex with our wives/husbands there would be a lot less people on welfare (as you stated), hardly any abortion, and our tax dollars wouldn't have to go to rasing kids with no parents or just one parent. Using that one Biblical practice would greatly improve our society and before you get started no I'm not saying the government should regulate sex however it baffles me all the safe sex crap but nobody wants to talk about waiting till marriage to have sex.

Drugs destroy lives as I have seen first hand with my uncle. He died alone in prison because of his drug use at the young age of 43. I know he would have something to say about "recreational drug use".

There are a lot of things that "destroy lives." If someone wants to waste their own life, who am I to stop them? Who is the government to stop them? The government is not a parental organization.

I agree again with you and we could likely spend all day on that topic. I'm no Bilble scholar by any means but I do know basic principles and my only guess is that like many things in life people twist the Bible to fit their own desires and try to use it further their own agendas.

There are plenty of traditional families on welfare, just as there are plenty of children from "broken homes" who are multi-millionaires.

Also, there is no link between wanting less government legislation and desiring welfare programs.

I think the government should completely cut all of its "social programs" (public education, welfare, medicare, medicaid, social security, food stamps, Pell Grants, etc.) I also believe the government should remove most restrictions regarding sex, drugs, gambling, alcohol, etc.

Great point lets let everyone do whatever they want and then like is happening today our country will implode!

So we should have laws that prevent people from driving a certain speed but have $9.95 cocaine buffets?

If the government can take us to war, I think should be able to regualte drugs.

So a typical day in the America you want would be as follows...

8 A.M. Kiss you 10 wives and leave your 30 kids at home as you head off to work in you tank.

10 A.M. work is boring so you decide to run over people traveling 150mph in your tank then go kill people with your sniper riffle for target practice.
noon you've gotten behind on your work so you decide to skip lunch work and smoke weed to hold you over.

2 P.M. You are now very hungry and unable to concentrate so you leave work early but your boss gets mad says no and you file a discrimination suit against him.

5:30 P.M.You decide to meet your family of 40 at your favorite restaurant the "White Steakhouse" where you can get a large steak and all you can snort cocaine for $19.95

does that sound about right?

but smoking in restaurants and drinking and driving both cause harm to others who had no choice in the matter, yet you've railed against any curbs on that behavior in the past.

All the blather about reduced entitlements is absurd. I agree that we should continually revisit the payouts, but failure to care for the weakest in society is the calling card in third world countries.

I love how you dodge the original point of his post realUT. He said smoking and drinking hurt other people but you aren't against those things but you are for personal liberties that don't hurt other people. That doesn't make sense!

He said that smoking in restaurants. I did not realize the government was forcing people to eat in restaurants!!!
