Conveniently left out of that tweet was that this is gated community on a private street. The only reason the protesters had access to this street was because they broke down the gate. I have no problem with these people protecting their property.
Even if the road/sidewalk or whatever they were own was privately-owned by someone or some entity (presumably by a homeowners association--which is a separate and distinct legal entity), they were not trespassing on the property owned by the gun-toting couple, as far as has been reported. If someone breaks into the community pool in a private community, does any owner in that community get to show up and point guns at the illegal swimmers?
They used to simply call the cops.Even if the road/sidewalk or whatever they were own was privately-owned by someone or some entity (presumably by a homeowners association--which is a separate and distinct legal entity), they were not trespassing on the property owned by the gun-toting couple, as far as has been reported. Once they broke the gate to enter, they demonstrated they were violent. Their intent was clearly not a good one, so yes the homeowners were absolutely justified. If the protestors had started moving in the direction of the homeowners, the the couple would have been justified in shooting them at that point. These protestors do not have the right to terrorize people or to be on private property.Even if the road/sidewalk or whatever they were own was privately-owned by someone or some entity (presumably by a homeowners association--which is a separate and distinct legal entity), they were not trespassing on the property owned by the gun-toting couple, as far as has been reported. It looks like the couple remained on their property to me after these people broke into their community. This is a mob of people who broke down the gate of said gated community, this isn’t ****ing caddy day at Bushwood Country Club. Given what’s happened over the past month I doubt people are going to put up with a group of people that are already threatening the well being of the community.Even if the road/sidewalk or whatever they were own was privately-owned by someone or some entity (presumably by a homeowners association--which is a separate and distinct legal entity), they were not trespassing on the property owned by the gun-toting couple, as far as has been reported. My take:Hey @McDad I missed all the action over the weekend. What was the forum's reaction to the Trump white power video? The usuals upset about it, and the other usuals acting like it was no big deal?
He has every opportunity to use Twitter to actually be diplomatic and help unify the country. Really seems like he's actively trying to accomplish the opposite. I don't see any evidence of him even attempting to bring any sense of calm.My take:
Some gave him plausible deniability, others said NBD, a few even seemed supportive because he (protestor) didnt do anything violent. The other side were dumping on DJT pretty hard.
I thought it was a very bad look even if DJT didnt know what dude said bc he obviously was told after the fact.
He’s a hard nosed New Yorker that made his career getting things done. That doesn’t happen by being nice. That’s his double edged sword. It shows that he’s a jerk, but it also shows the people he’s up against as jerks too because they’re forced to reveal their true colors, like when Pelosi ripped up the documents at the State of the Union speech. He has every opportunity to use Twitter to actually be diplomatic and help unify the country. I would really like to know how many times Trump’s people have implored him to get off of Twitter or reduce his usage. I know only a small percentage of Americans are on Twitter, but it reaches the masses each day one way or another. I don’t know that he would be leading Biden, but I think the current polls would look different because the optics of his presidency would have a different feel regardless of how you feel about him.He has every opportunity to use Twitter to actually be diplomatic and help unify the country.
