Stupid by De Blasio. No surprise.

Screaming overtime just means they don’t really have a plan but it’s the easiest to criticize..... They do that at my job as well whenever they talk about saving money. Is it? From the article, it sounds like they can find a lot of those savings by just overhauling how they pay overtime.
Seems like real conservatives would be in favor of cutting PD budgets just about everywhere in the country.
Sorry if I don’t fit your definition of a real conservative. I’ll go flog myself appropriately. And maybe slightly inappropriately. Is it? From the article, it sounds like they can find a lot of those savings by just overhauling how they pay overtime.

Well, he's famous in the NBA or if you pay attention to the business of sports. Not only can he play (20.6 ppg and 6.8 apg last year), but he's a really smart, innovative guy (clearly, with his against-the-grain but thoughtful attack against government debt). There was also this:

I haven't watched an NBA game since Lebron was in Cleveland the first time. The only time I watch NBA players is ever 4 years when they are supposed to be representing the United States.
Are they understaffed? If they are anything like Nashville and other growing or already large cities they typically are. That might make a difference in my opinion. Is it? From the article, it sounds like they can find a lot of those savings by just overhauling how they pay overtime.

OT is usually a result of staffing shortages and in most cases is cheaper. We use OT because it's cheaper to pay a current employee time and a half than to train and pay benefits to a new hire. Also if you have surges in utilization you couldn't hire new staff in time if you wanted to.Is it? I was just thinking break check them once they get close. You know a couple arent going to be able to stop. Then they all run after the car....like these out of shape losers are going to catch it.
The drivers should slow down while they are chasing, let them catch up, then speed up again, then slow down again....would be hilarious.
Sounds like how Atlanta works. There is X number of cops that have to be on duty at any given point. Then there were "extra" shifts available that cops could take for more hours. It was so common place that the "extra" became the norm. And the "walkouts" were actually the "call ins" for extra shifts. Is it? Fair point. I don’t disagree with that. The opposite is also true and committing to cut 1/6th of the budget without having all of the plans laid out seems crazy to me. It seems most agree that more training and better pay is needed so how is cutting funding going to help with either of those? It might be a bad idea. IDK. But saying that cuts are a bad idea without knowing the actual details means that you're not really interested in responsible government. That was my point.
