If the pool is in your backyard, yes.Even if the road/sidewalk or whatever they were own was privately-owned by someone or some entity (presumably by a homeowners association--which is a separate and distinct legal entity), they were not trespassing on the property owned by the gun-toting couple, as far as has been reported. If someone breaks into the community pool in a private community, does any owner in that community get to show up and point guns at the illegal swimmers?
He has every right to stand in his yard with the gun, especially when a mob of strangers break down a gate and trespass en masse to be there. What issue are you taking with this?
