Georgia, etc. and Poaching

I think there has to be some kind of control in the NIL system. If collectives are contacting players before they actually declare for the portal, that is tampering. The player may not even had intentions of entering the portal until they were contacted with an offer to transfer to a certain school, and they would be given an NIL deal worth x amount of $'s. I think it's already supposed to be a part of the NIL system, but it seems like it's happening.

Very subjective on my part and yes I have biases. But they did not win the Sec championship game when he was playing.
I'm not talking about that. Not having their best WR was definitely a factor. The narrative that KS is not a good coach is sour grapes. Nothing more.

How quickly you moved from Kirby's comment to his inability to coach to tossing shade at Georgia's championship, which i think is where your real problem with Kirby is. Dawgs won the title. You'll be happier when you accept it.

Lol. You did. And I can assure you that when teams with much better game day coaches start to somewhat level the playing field Georgia will go right back to where they were when Kirbs was playing. Enjoy it now my dog friend but deep down you know I am right. Jake Fromm... Lol

I said that he is not a good game day coach. I think there's enough evidence out there to support that. How many times did he completely crap the bed against Saban alone? And I know it's Saban but 28-7? And 2nd and 26 ?

If we're gonna laugh at QBs, Jarrett Guarantano.
You're right, UGA won't win forever, no one does. But they're winning right now and with the way Kirby recruits, will be winning for the foreseeable future.

Every coach makes mistakes. I would say there is enough evidence that he is a good coach. Talent helps every coach, but the guy was a fantastic D coordinator. He's a good coach.

NIL ain’t goin anywhere, but I think they should institute a one time transfer rule and go back to having to sit out a season. Otherwise the poaching by “the haves” programs will continue. To fix college football there needs to be more parity not less.

It’s just basic common sense. And force all coaches to sign 1 yr non compete agreements with their employer. If NCAA requires it, all schools will have to comply.

Look at it another way. Who really sticks out like a sore thumb here in the Composite Top 10 recruiting rankings, whose recruiting chops don't match their chops on the field?

1. Alabama, 10-2, winners of 2 of the last 5 national championships, regular CFP participant
2. Georgia, 13-0, SEC champion, defending national champion, 47-5 the last 5 years
3. Texas, 8-4, headed for the Alamo Bowl, haven't been relevant but maybe 1 year in the last dozen
4. Miami, 5-7, no bowl, haven't been relevant in years
5. Oklahoma, 6-6, headed for the Cheez-It Bowl, regular CFP participant
6. Ohio State, 11-1, headed for the CFP, regular playoff participant
7. LSU, 9-4, SEC West Champ, 2019 national champ, headed for Citrus Bowl
8. Notre Dame, 8-4, going to the Gator Bowl, several CFP appearances, most storied program in CFB history
9. Tennessee, 10-2, headed for the Orange Bowl, ranked No. 1 in CFP earlier in the year
10. Clemson, 10-2, headed for the Orange Bowl, 2 national championships in last 6 years

I would go with 3 & 4 being huge cheaters, and we know A&M is cut from the same cloth as their other Texas brethren.

You never once heard me say JG was a average QB. We were led to believe that Fromm was the 2nd coming of Joe Montana. I totally forgot that with a roster littered with talent he was completely embarrassed by Ed Ogeron. Lol. Again respect for your recent success but no coach is afraid of matching wits with Kirbs.

And you never heard me compare Fromm to Montana or anyone else. Nor did I say any coach was afraid to coach against Kirby Smart.

There's no one to enforce any NIL rules. The NCAA is tired of losing lawsuits about player compensation and punted enforcement to the conferences. That doesn't work because it's not in the best interest of a conference to keep their teams from getting talent.

The reality is that if someone approaches me or you for an NIL deal, who can say I can't take it? Like that guy on the skateboard with the Fleetwood Mac song, if somebody wants to use his video or face or whatever and pays him, it's all good.

Why shouldn't a college athlete be able to do the same thing? Who should be able to control the money a kid makes from being who they are?

There's no way to control NIL legally.

Nor will I, but anecdotally, it was inferred by Mack Brown the coach at NC that the usual suspects, those that currently ranked highest in the recruiting rankings (or their NIL entities) had made the attempt. To be fair, it could have been Alabama and Miami,
or anybody else, but when he said that, I personally thought Georgia and Alabama with Georgia being the most likely. He is not going to actually come out and say who it is, but for me he narrowed it down to a very small hand full of schools. I also think
he tossed out the dollar amount, but I could be wrong on him being the source there, but the amount had to come from somebody at North Carolina.
he did ...
