Georgia opens -9.5 vs Vols

Good...I want them to keep disrespecting us and not giving us a chance. After our DL play this week, CRG will be lighting a fire under them for this game. I can see us getting multiple sacks on Beck and as long as he is under pressure, he will make bad plays.

Tennessee has not beaten UGA in many years. In fact, most games for several years have not even been competitive. This is embarrassing, because before our athletic department was gutted and ruined by Cheek and Hart and others, we had UGAs number.

Tennessee has not played well on the road and has been sluggish in most games. UGA is coming off of a butt kickin at Ole Miss and they'll be very pissed. I like UTs chances better, if UGA had won yesterday. I know it's funny, but this psychological stuff does matter a lot of the time.

I think the line comes down, because they want money coming in on the UT side early. Most betters will take the Vols getting nearly 10 points. I can see the Vols pulling the upset and I can see UGA winning by a couple of scores. Just really depends on what Vols teams shows up. Unfortunately, we haven't seen a non sluggish Vols team yet........

Tennessee basketball was a 2.5 point underdog to Louisville yesterday. Vegas just wants bets to be even. They know the public looks at UGA as the same juggernaut there were a couple years ago. They are not. Carson Beck is a walking turnover and their defense isn't remotely as good as it has been. It will be a tough game, and we may not win, but it's not essentially hopeless like it has been in the past couple trips there.

The oddsmakers generally know things the general public do not. The Nico injury comes to mind. But I can see this line considering how we play on the road and with the noise. Our last trip to Athens really baffled our offense and with a freshman or backup QB I do not see anything different.

Another thing that bothers me is that Kentucky and Miss State both exposed our defense and Smart will take advantage of that. Our play calling seems to be stagnating at this time of the season too. If I were UGA I would come out in a 3-3-5 defense since we have little success against that.

It just depends on what Beck shows up. The Beck that makes spectacular throws that are big time NFL type of throws, or the Beck that struggles and throws it to the other team?

If Beck isn't setting the world on fire, the Vols have a good chance. I love the Vol's defense and they have been lights out, but eventually they will just need help. Can't keep relying on the defense week in and week out.

Just have to get QB rolling a lot and utilize tight ends and running backs in the passing game. If not, it'll be a long night offensively.

Depends on which GA shows up - the one that beat Texas or the one that lost to Ole Miss. As others have pointed out, Kirby tends to win big on games he preps for (with the exception of Bama).

LFGBO!!!

I would expect Georgia to show up. I think their fans maybe a little down but the team should be there. Tennessee will need to lean heavily on its defense and find a way to get the offense going. IMO, it is going to come down to coaching and how well we play call against Georgia.

Not gonna sugarcoat it. I'm more worried about this game than any we've played in several years. There's so much at stake, and I'm not super confident we've got "it" enough to go down to Athens and beat the Dawgs when they are in survival mode. Gonna take more than just the normal amount of luck it takes to win any big game. Not saying a win down there is impossible, but dang. Gonna need to play like they did to beat Bama in that last-second miracle victory that literally made at least half of Vol Nation cry actual tears of joy.

The noise level at Athens will also be a factor. We need to control our senseless penalties and play smart football. This game, I believe, is winnable but we need our A game.
Whatever. Playing between the hedges is overrated. Not that loud and definitely not intimidating. It’s nothing like playing in Neyland. Vols will be just fine in Athens!

It is a lot more intimidating place to play than Norman or Fayetteville and we struggled a little at both (especially Fayetteville). Granted, I think your post was a joke post but I could be wrong.

Given the way the D regularly rises to the occasion in big games, Carson Beck isn’t magically going to be a better decision maker next week. I don’t care that they’re coming off a loss. Kirby Smart ain’t out there playing.
When our defense puts pressure on Beck, he will be a turnover machine. If he isn't, we might have a tough time.
We can not be the team with the most turnovers.
