Get on the ride before the bandwagon starts

I agree 100%, but as others have stated, I never got off the bandwagon. Like my moniker states, I've been a VOL since before I really knew what it was.

GBO VFL

Nice new avi you've got there. ; )>

I think I need to take the high res version and put it on a shirt to wear at the O&W game this year.

I have this odd little feeling that TN is about to blow back up again in the next few years.

I honestly am kinda shocked because when Butch was hired I wasn't really for it... but....the man put on the Orange with a pride I haven't seen since CPF and he seems to really believe this is his dream job. There is an energy behind him right now and it is easy to sell something when you truly believe it. He believes it. And I am behind him 100 percent now.

So heres the point: in about two years we are gonna be alot like Bama. Alot of bandwagon fans who will never know how great this victory really feels because they weren't here when our asses were getting kicked. They will sing Rocky top but it wont be from the heart. And yeah, were gonna pick up some Gator fans. It's gonna happen.

So to those of us who still wear the orange with pride, still yell Go Vols even after a loss to Vandy, here's to you.

You were here when the chips were down and you are the heart and soul of volnation.

Go Vols and lets shock the world on NSD!
A UT fan since my dad took me to a game during Coach Dickey's second season. Just because they lose doesn't make a real fan any less of a fan.

Those who leave the program when things get tough aren't really fans of the team.

I was SF Giants fan since I was a kid. They were terrible for years. Managed to lose a WS game 6 up by 4 runs late and then lose game 7 to the Angels. It hurt like crazy. But, lo and behold, the blind squirrel found an acorn and they won their first WS championships in my lifetime in the past few years.

I believe that you really know that you are a true fan of a team when them losing hurts and takes you lower than when they win and that higher feeling that you get.

When the Vols lose in football, I cannot stand to even watch other college games. It ruins my entire weekend.

So when Coach Jones makes us relevant again, the feeling is going to be magical.

Just like the feeling I got when Johnnie Jones broke bama's back in '82 and snapped that awful losing streak to bama just before the Bear went and croaked.

The OP guaranteed victories over Bama and UF before the season last year, and only avoided losing a lifetime ban bet because DaRick is an idiot.

People should take his prognostications with a grain of salt.

First game was the 1966 Gator Bowl, an 18-12 win over Syracuse. Been going to games ever since. Vol fan all my life & will always be one. There's just something special about the Big Orange that no one else has or can explain. Win or lose, IT'S GREAT TO BE A TENNESSEE VOL!!!

Should've known it was about time for ol' Debbie Downer to show up and ruin a good thread.

The reason threads like this make me smile is because you all are beginning to understand why gator fans are the way they are.

You get beat, get beat, get beat and then people start accusing you of running up the score.

And wonder why you take glee in it.

When Tennessee does win again, it will interesting to see how many are restrained in their joy

I have been a Vols fan since the 70's. I can remember for years I would go to the Arby's on Chapman Hwy to pickup one of the Vols pocket guides with all of our players info listed in it.

In the late 80's I moved to Ga and have been suffering the wrath of bulldawg fans every since. Thru the good times and the bad I have never waivered on my support of my Vols. GO VOLS.

When I was a kid, I always got really excited when my Dad brought one of these home. I knew it was almost "Football Time in Tennessee!!!"

I guess I started out as a bandwagon fan because I started pulling for them when Peyton was a senior. I was a bama fan until I was old enough to realize how annoying their fans are. I can't wait until we can shut their ignorant fans up and send saban into retirement. My allegiance will never waiver again. It will be go vols for the rest of my life.

Are you still in Elkmont? I grew up in Athens....although, that was a long time ago. My kids are almost your age.

I hope you are right, but all of this based on a feeling does not equal "like bama in two years". Sorry but I have to see what we put on the field before I start worrying about bandwagon fans.

Our Nickname of the Grade School I attended in the 70's was called "Volunteers" so I have been VFL all of my life.. Check it out different colors but we were the Vols and we were always tough in sports even though we were a very small school!!!

I never got off the Orange bandwagon. However, we probably will have a tough 2 to 3 years to rebuild the OL and some quality depth at all positions. Attrition has done a number on us as well as sub par recruiting classes. (Sub par compared to the rest of the SEC). We will need for players to be coached up more and maybe get some JUCO help in the DL and LB spots. A little luck in close games would help too. I am looking forward to the ride.
