Get Ready For ND

ND may have used to be the program in the NCAA but that was yesterday, just like your thinking! ND is weak and will get slapped by UT come November! UT 31-Losers form NUTTER DUM 14

I won't go as far as the Vandy comparision, but face it Jason, the last several years ND has been a fat TV contract away from irrelevance.

Tenn. should have 3 Heismans (they don't) my point exactly, the bias kept the Vols from winning. Johnny Majors lost to the only winner from a team with a losing record. Peyton Manning lost to the only defensive player ever to win.

Arkansas should have beaten Texas (they didn't) did you watch the game?

Michigan has the all time winning percentage (not true, ND took the lead again by beating Michigan) you are correct. the current top 10
1. Notre Dame 0.7459
2. Michigan 0.7456
3. Alabama 0.7133
4. Texas 0.7121
5. Oklahoma 0.70984
6. Ohio State 0.70976
7. Nebraska 0.7093
8. Tennessee0.6968
9. Southern Cal 0.6940
10. Penn State 0.6882

and please don't start comparing the difficulty of the schedule (ND has played everyone from every conference: Miami, Florida State, Oklahoma, Michigan, USC, Nebraska, etc.) and has been getting their :shakeit: kicked lately too! The last time the Irish finished in the top 10 was 1993! At least Tennessee is winning against top non-SEC teams.

Believe me, I know Tenn. has a good program and a good tradition, but ND is THE program in the NCAA. used to be!

FYI braniac, from 1924-2004, the Vols have a better winning percentage than Notre Dame!!

You can go to any corner of the country and find people interested in the Irish. its not interest, it's loathing.

Tenn. may be big in the South, but you rarely hear about them on the west coast, east coast or in the midwest. untrue, I have lot's of friends all over the country and also in Canada... and just like Notre Dame with its NBC package... the Vols are on television 9 or 10 times each season. Could be why there are thos in places like Minnesota, Edmonton, Sacramento, etc. that take an interest and watch the Vols whenever they can.

I also realize that the Tenn. game will be a big game and a challenge for ND, but please don't try and compare yourselves to the Irish, you only make yourself look foolish.
I would not want to compare Tennessee to the Irish. Tennessee is much better. The quality of athletes is better. The atmosphere is better. The team is better. The fans are better. The facilities are better. The overall program is better. and on and on and on.

I'm sorry that as an Irish fan you are faced with the fact that Notre Dame will never be a top 10 program again. All you have to cling to are ancient records and awards to comfort after each loss.

This is a touchy subjest for me. UT-UND are my two favorite colleges in a landslide...... Notre Dame has talent, Tennessee has talent. It will not be a blowout but i see Tenn winning it. Darius Walker is something special and Brady Quinn could be too.

Instanes = instances, excuse the typo. But then i Know you Northerners arent too quick, so figuring out that a word was missing a letter would take too much brain work for you.

Also for the record, I am in Memphis..... Now again, I know this might take a bit of working the brain, but Hillbilly is by definition one from the remote mountains, and back hills. Memphis has no hills, it is about as flat as they come in this part of the country.
You also show your complete ignorance about the demographic makeup of the city, but then why dont you come on down here and let the people know they are hillbillys. I know a few guys in Orange Mound that would love to meet an egotist like yourself.

Now then, go run back to your fellow Notre Dame sissies until you can actually bring something more than flawed conjecture and petty insults.

Y'all have a nice day.

I ND is so tough why are they still independents? I'll tell you why bc they are media darlings and have deals with the bowls that they may be chosen as long as they have a winning record. The only thing is that they can't pull 6 wins out to become eligible. :flush:

Keep this in mind they beat Mich and M.State. Michigan almost got beat AT HOME by SAN DIEGO STATE and State got beat by RUTGERS!!!!!!!!!

Yeah two program defining wins there. :dlol:

If I was Tenn. I would be very afraid of ND. Not only do they never take a week off (x-cept for the traditional Navy game) but they are young, hungry, and motivated. They are ready every week for the next big game. I can almost hear the bitching about Washington or some of the others but if you go back 5-7 years when the schedules are set these teams are in the national title hunt or at least the class of their conference.

The SEC is very overrated this year ranking 4th by espn and 5th by usa today. The comments about Michigan may turn out to be true but for LSU being the "best team" of the SEC it might be an uphill battle for anyone in the SEC to gain respect anywhere out of the South.

Good luck beating La Tech. in football or was this a womens basketball game?

Go Irish!!!

I just read the part about Tennessee being on 9 to 10 times anywhere in the country well that may not be so true unless you have the college football package. I live in AZ and so far we have seen 1 tennessee game so to make this prediction come true the Vols need to be on TV for every game the rest of the season. I am going to go out on a limb and say that Tenn. vs. La Tech. will be missing from my regional package. There are so many things you can say about tennessee that trumps ND over the last few years why make other things up?

Also everyone don't change statistics to make your argument (tenn has better winning percentage since 19??) because for the last two weeks ND had been undefeated. See how easy yet utterly pointless that was to make a point out of nothing.

It was that darn loss in week 1 to the Latter Day Saints that makes us wonder how good ND really is. You've got to admit, ND looked REALLY bad in that game.

I'm tired of hearing SEC oversted crap.. Like I said ND doesn't have the balls to join a conference bc they would never go to a bowl. At least they will be eligible for the weedeater bowl.

So you either don't have ESPN or CBS in Arizona then, because those were the prime time games for those networks for both of Tennessee's first 2 games. UNLV game was on ESPN and Florida was on CBS.

Because ESPN and CBS don't schedule all the games too far in advance, the only games scheduled so far for 2004 are
ESPN - UNLV, Auburn
CBS - Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame

Rest of the games are selected the week of the game. CBS gets 1st pick, ESPN gets next 2 or 3 picks and JPSports picks last.

Okay here are the facts...
In 2003 the Vols appeared on
ESPN = 3 times
ESPN2 = 3 times
CBS = 2 times
ABC = 1 time
National Coverage = 9 times

2 other games appeared on Jefferson Pilot Sports, which is regional, and available via ESPN Gameplan.

Vols' Games appearing on National Television (ABC/CBS/NBC/ESPN/ESPN2/FOX)

2002 - 8
2001 - 11
2000 - 7
1999 - 8
1998 - 10
1997 - 11
1996 - 9

This list excludes JPSports which carries games on regional basis and ESPN Gameplan.

I see how easy it is to not know the Vols television schedule, especially way out in Arizona. Probably can't pick up ESPN with rabbit ears.

Also who knew that a 5-7 team would be on television for all 12 games? What kind of miserable ratings was NBC getting last year. I bet they had flashbacks to the XFL. Actually, the XFL was better to watch than Notre Dame last season.

Obviously my attempt at humor (lying) has failed to work. I guess when I make up things it just hits a nerve with everyone. although this is hardly a necessary point. Congrats by the way on keeping track of the last decades tv appearances and the rabbit ears was also a good one. You got me in Phoenix, AZ we need rabbit ears to pick espn. wow, my face is red, the whole country knows now!

The point is Tenn is in for a big surprise and I actually think they will have a worse record going into that game. I mean especially because of how hard the SEC is and that Notre Dame plays such horrible teams all the time.

Have you noticed Allvol responds with Facts and ajsmith2021 responds with a sardonic tone and baseless assumptions...

A true debate is won with facts ...

When someone responds such as ajsmith2021 does you are in a conversation without resolve. No matter what facts you post it will not open the eyes of blind faith...

I do hope ND only has one loss when they show up to play UT... that will make a great game and will give bragging rights for at least one year....

Speaking on this year alone what I have seen outta both teams:

ND has improved somewhat but still is missing the overall team talent of old. Defense has proven troblesome for opponents...no one has been able to threaten deep... the establishment of a run game has eased up pressure on the QB who I think is above average and could cause problems for anyone..but he is no Leak...

UT defense is suspect to run at times...currently has a little too much bend not break in them but overall can stop drives from good opponents...I would like to see more pressure on QB...offense this year I see as big improvement over last year...the offense can sustain drives both run and pass...and pass deep ... with multiple good receivers I think ND will have problems...

ND is better than last year but not near the ND of old
UT is better than last year ....

To say we ought to be worried...well I say I hope we are worried each week as a team and have a hungry attitude... I would hate to think we take anyone lightly...

Not that it is a huge deal, but many of the ABC games are regional in nature and therefore not national games. I'd be willing to wager that ND has been on national TV many more times in the past 7 years. I mean really, if you are trying to compare which program is more national in nature you are fighting a losing battle. ND gets more national press win or lose than Tenn. gets. Period.

The fact that you either had all that tv information, or that you bothered to looked all of it up does say something (Either you are a very dedicated fan, or you truly have no life).

Also, please stop picking arbitrary years when trying to compare yourself with ND. You say a debate is won with facts, yet you continually throw out excuses and half truths. The facts are: ND has more national championships, more Heisman trophy winners, and the best all time winning percentage. Live with it!

GO IRISH!!!

P.S. If I was from Tennesse I really wouldn't try comparing my state with Arizona as far as which state is more technologically advanced. Rabbit ears? How about indoor plumbing?

How many Notre Dame fans does it take to change a light blub?

80,001

1 to change the bulb and another 80,000 to sit around and talk about how good the old bulb was.

No one is going to argue that ND has great tradition. Face it man, you are livin in the past. What have you done for me lately?

Come to think of it Notre Dame fans have a lot in common with Bama fans. Nah, I wouldn't even say that about my worst enemy.

Us hillbillys are really advanced. Our outhouses are made of this new stuff called plastic now instead of tree parts.
:flush: :crap: :dlol:

In all seriousness, have you not heard of TVA and Oak Ridge?

Met a guy from the bush in Kenya one time. He was in graduate school in Atlanta with my brother. On his first visit to Tennessee, all he wanted to see was TVA because they had taught in his school back in Kenya about the technological advances of TVA. How they harnassed the power of water and nuclear energy to provide power to almost 100% of the population, including rural areas. I'll take the scientists and engineers in the Tennessee Valley any day over those from Arizona.

But getting back to football, put it in the bank, the Vols will beat Notre Dame this year. :bottom: :chair: :pepper:
