Ghosts..... Have you ever seen them?

I agree with this.

From my perspective as a Christian, I'm not quite sure what to think as far as ghosts are concerned. I personally haven't experienced anything that would suggest their existence, but I can reasonably agree with what you posted about some people being able to perceive things that others may not be able to. Interesting point.

Well this was fun but I have no doubt (at least from what time I've spent in the politics forum) that this will turn into some form of debate. I hope it doesn't and we can just get some different perspectives, but here goes.

I am a Christian. I went to school for Pastoral Ministries. I have heard countless tales of ghost/demonic encounters and here are my theories as I believe them:

A ghost is a thumb print on time. I call it my "lady in the garden" theory. If a woman gets up at 6 AM on the dot every morning, and walks a certain path through her garden, every day, same path, same garden, she carries her energy with her. If this lady does this same thing, walks this same path in this same garden for 20 years, then passes away, yes you will see her image walking this garden (or where this garden used to be) occasionally. It can't interact with you. It has no life or form of consciousness, it is just an image of something that has happened enough times over the years to (for lack of a better word) "stain" the earth with its image.

On a similar note, take a Civil War soldier. Soldiers are a very popular subject of ghost sightings. This Civil War soldier was on patrol with 3 other soldiers. They are relaxed, walking their route as usual. All of a sudden one of his fellow soldiers on patrol with him gets shot from an unknown location, then the other gets shot. The remaining soldier has a HUGE spike in energy due to adrenaline, fear, etc. then he is shot dead as well. This sudden spike in energy creates that same "stain" on the earth. It lingers. It can't interact, but you may see its image.

Now if there is something paranormal that interacts with you (says your name, says "get out", touches you, etc. all popular reports of paranormal interactions) it's demonic. It is attempting to scare you. You should not fear it, that is what it wants. We as God's children are only to fear God, BUT demonic entities are not to be tampered with. This is why I don't go "ghost hunting" like I used to in college. It follows you home. I don't care what your situation is or what your beliefs are, if you go out looking for trouble with things like this you're inviting something into your life that is a whole whole lot more than most humans can handle. You're inviting demons, and yes, demons are very, very real.

I disagree. From the standpoint of a christian I believe that while God might not be able to protect you completely from other humans he sure as heck can protect you from ghosts and demons unless you willingly allow them to enter/posess/channel through you. That is something you'll never catch me doing.

Sometimes happens that I can't immediately explain. What should I do?

A. Assume it's paranormal activity.
B. Assume it's God.
C. Both A & B.
D. Search for a scientific answer.
E. Nothing. It was just a sound and I'm going to move on with my life.

All hate towards me should be inserted below this post.

E, unless you are crazy, then a or b.

Interesting answer. How could an adult come to that conclusion. The conclusion that we simply don't know everything. Or that, in the words of a famous American thinker, "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar". We don't have to read into everything.

Never saw it, but when we lived in Fayetteville when I was a kid, there was some weird stuff going on. Had a gas stove (everyone knows that when you light off a gas stove, you get that clickclickclick). Me, Momma, Dad, and my two little brothers are all in the front room watching something on TV, and the stove lights off all on its own.

My bed was up against the wall, long side on (I was in 1st-2nd grade, to give you an age reference). Went to sleep that night, woke up, and it was short-side on to the wall and on the other side of the room. We moved shortly thereafter. 312 North Main, Fayetteville, TN if anyone's interested. No idea why I still know that address, but I do, LOL.

I have mixed feelings about "ghosts".

My rational, logical side dismisses the notion. Various experiences in my life and the testimony of countless others make less hesitant to outright dismiss them.

If they are real, I believe it has something to do with the extra dimensions of reality. Continuing this train of thought, if such is true, it would makes sense that some people are born with abilities to "see"or "feel" dimensions that normal humans can not.

You are talking about extra spatial dimensions that are (supposedly) extremely tiny. This makes no sense, IMO. That is, of course, assuming all those extra dimensions even exist in the first place.

My g'ma passed away in 2010 And was cremated. Shortly after we got her ashes back unexplainable things would happen. I thought it was just me that noticed the things until my wife came to me and said I dont wanna make you upset But i think granny is here. I asked her why she said that and we started comparing and some of the same things happened to all 5 of us in the house. Someone would get touched and nobody would be around, my wife and i both saw what appeared to be legs That would come down the hallway towards the front door and only towards the door, never back the other Way towards the bedrooms. The same legs would stand to the right of the TV and when you would look they would vanish. One night there was a woman standing beside my bed and I knew it was my granny. I didnt see her face but I knew the house coat. I was up watching TV late and I heard someone calling out daddy, I went back to the bedrooms and Ash was asleep and Diane and Kinsey were playing on the laptop and I asked if they called me and

continuing......They said no! I went back to the den and 15 minutes later I heard, in my grannies voice, just like when I was a kid and she was calling me in, Marc, Marc, Marc! I got up and walked back down the hall and Ash got up and said What was that? I asked if she heard it too and that night we all slept together. .My youngest daughter woke up one particular night aNd came in the den and said Daddy, you know sometimes dead people communicate with you through children? i said Kinsey go back to bed, she didnt remember saying it the next day. There have been many more but....have I seen ghosts, NO!....spirits? I believe I have!

I've only had one. Some can argue sleep paralysis. But I was pushed down in the bed. Could her my family in the front yard. I couldn't breath or move. Tried to yell out but couldn't. Then all of the sudden boom I was free.

Now my mom on the other hand some crazy stuff go on when she was little.
Lives in grand junction Tennessee at the time

This is an interesting theory. Never looked at it that way.

Size of the dimensions would have nothing to do with anything.

Interesting take minus the God stuff.

Has everything to do with it. You're talking about perceiving things that are in these extra dimensions as if they existed in our 3 spatial dimensions. Doesn't seem logical.

Picture an organism that only exists in two dimensions (length and width, to us) and then a "ghost" that exists only in the third dimension (height). The 2 dimensional organism couldn't possibly perceive the 1 dimensional "ghost" in his two dimensions. Even if he could see the higher dimension, it wouldn't appear as if it were part of the rest of his surroundings.

Not necessarily. I just think there are some people that are able to perceive the extra dimensions outlined in M-Throey. I believe paranormal activity has something to do with those extra dimensions.

I always see dark shadows moving in pitch blackness..just like Ghost Hunters/Ghost Mine/Ghost Busters, etc etc

Do you have a better theory for why something paranormal would interact with you?

Or did you say that just to make sure and point out that you don't believe in God? I thought your theory about the extra dimensions not everyone can see was very interesting. Why was mine not interesting? Because it contained "God stuff"?

Since I am not sure what the origin of paranormal activity entails, I am not sure what it means when it interacts with me or another person. I can't say.

Just because I don't believe in your God does not mean that I don't believe in a pantheistic God.

I said it because I don't believe the existence of paranormal activity entails the existence of God, demons, or the devil. One of my favorite movies is Constantine. I don't necessary rule that kind of situation out.

You might want to reread my post. I stated very clearly that I thought your interpretation was "interesting minus the God stuff". I was interested your theory about consistent energy in a space over time and a unusual spike in energy. I tend to thing paranormal activity is based in energy either trapped or emanating from another dimension.
