Well, it was long a planned out trip, and where I first went wrong was having around 7-8 people with me. We met up at a local grocery store and took 2 car for a 59 minute drive to Chapel Hill. I'd say we left sometime around 10:30, so we arrived at the tracks around 11:15-11:25. If you go to the right crossing, you will go through a wooded area and arrive at a seemingly dead end. Chapel Hill was very lively, unlike it seems. We had to turn around and park on the side of the road, so once we got out we had 4 flashlights and walked about 150 yards to the tracks itself, and as soon as we arrived, all four of the flashlights died. They were old, cheap flashlights, so maybe they just died from use, or something else caused them to just die. We then took out our cell phones and noticed across from the tracks there was a 6 ft wooden cross. It was very eerie sight to say the least. I did some research and found nothing saying why it was there. After about 5 minutes of deciding what to do, we split into two groups of 4 people and each went our different way. I, as the one who gathered everyone to go, lead one group up the tracks and my buddy lead the other group the opposite way. After about 15 minutes of walking that way, we turned around and went the way the other group went, and they went the way we had previously went. After an hour of walking and seeing nothing, zip, zada, zilch, my group and the other group meet up at the original track crossing. It's about 12:30 AM at this point, and for a brief break we see a strong light shining bright, staying in the middle of the tracks. I want to believe that it's the "ghost light" but too many accounts say the light "bobs" across the tracks and vanishes. We stay there on the tracks and notice it keeps getting bigger, but then hear the train whistle way off in the distance and realize it's a train 5 minutes away. We relax and let it pass, which was pretty cool considering we were very close to a train. I about decided to throw in the flag and go home. My friend, who was still wanting to stay, convinced me to walk up the tracks with him and the other guys. So I agree and walk up the tracks for about 10 minutes. I remember checking my iPhone at 12:57 and telling him I'm ready to go, so we turn around and stop. We see the orange light "bobbing" across the tracks, over and back, and continued to move closer in distance for about 5 seconds. It then suddenly vanished. We walked back up the tracks and didn't see anything else. So for about 2 hours of being there, It only lasted for 5 seconds. I don't know what it was, but I know what I saw. It fit the detail of the "ghost light" perfectly. I will definitely be going back soon to conclude this, but I know I saw something.
