Ghosts..... Have you ever seen them?

At my old job we had a small building with an intercom. One day we were all in a meeting, and the radio at the front desk started playing through the intercom. Strangest occurrence for me.

I can't stop you from "google".

I was told The Legend of The Bell Witch at a very young age, back in the early 70's. I was also told to never disrespect or mock The Bell Witch.

My 2 stories would not be believed and would be mocked.

Mock me for believing and I am fine with it.

Some old timers won't even mention it.

Would be interesting to get Grizz's take on this. He's from the same are.

:eek:k::good!:

The actual story of the death occurred around the 30's or 40's. I can't remember his first name but his last name was "Batte" he lived and worked by the railroad. Somehow, he was involved in a tragic accident hooking up carts or something to that manner and was sucked under the train. Body was completely mangled. Short time afterwards conductors started seeing the strange light at night in the same general area as it is today. As always, it appeared in the distance and got closer and closer then dispersed before too close. Often after it disperses if you look down the other direction of the track you'll see that it has passed you. And keeps moving on. Lots of people have studied it and never been able to explain it. The show "Unsolved Mysteries" from back in the day did an episode on it. Lots of strange things happen around the tracks.

Very interesting. So it just cannot be explained. How long has it been since you've been to the tracks?

I'm leaving The Bell Witch alone. There is a story down here I've heard that I want to go check out.

There was an old man that lived by himself in a shack out in the everglades. Some say he never did any harm, but never did any good. Everyone said he had a lot of money that he put in jars and buried around his shack in the sand. There were some kids that lived not far away on a creekside and were said to be mean as snakes. One night they met at the old mans shack planning to steal the money and leave the old man to the gators. They saw the man digging and several of the jars around his feet. They beat the man and threw him in the swamp then took the money and started running. The stories say they ran into quicksand and as they went under, they could her the old man laughing. That's been over 50 years ago, but they say there is a spot in back of the shack where it's always wet and during the summer if the moon is right, you can hear the kids screaming and the old man laughing.

That's some scary stuff, but I wanna go find out if it's true.

Check it out, and let us know how it goes.

As far as the Bell Witch, everything doesn't seem to add up. It killed John Bell, apparently, and came back in 7 years, and did what? What else happened? It's hard to investigate this also. Is there anywhere I can go to look around, is the Bell farm open to the public?

No I've never seen that one before. Never seen that cross either.. like I said I haven't been back there in a while. I do know that 2 people died on the tracks in that area last year. May have something to do with the cross.

Interesting. And to be sure, people say you must go to the right crossing, which is Winns Crossing Road? Or is that wrong?
