Ghosts..... Have you ever seen them?

I have a question for the ones in the thread that actually go out and investigate odd occurrences. Is it possible to smell a ghost/spirit? I mean, is it possible to physically smell a fragrance that was associated with a deceased person when they were living? This is a serious question, so don't anyone mess with me on it.:eek:k:

There are accounts of people able to smell scents associated with some spirits. I have had people tell me of smelling strong floral aromas tied to spirit sightings, sounds, or visitations.

A friend of mine says that she has feelings like someone is in the room with her and smells the same cologne that her departed father wore. She swears that her father has visited her.

My wife often smells strong but sweet floral aromas wafting in the air at times in her large walk in closet. There is nothing related to flowers, perfumes, or anything aroma-wise near that area. We have had a lot of strange unexplainable occurrences in our home over the years.

I lived in a house in s Knox county that belonged to my brother. His wife told me they bought it from a family of an old man who died there. She claimed he haunted it and said you could smell him smoking his pipe once in a while. I have to admit I smelled it several times while I lived there. It smelled like the old cherry blend tobacco that was used in pipes. I guessed it was in woodwork but never knew

This reminded me of our old house we lived in about 15 years ago. We would smell pipe tobacco smoke mid-way up the staircase, but no where else in the house. I would check outside to see if someone had been near the front door, but nobody had been there. You would only smell it in the same exact spot-mid-way up the stairs.

I spoke to an older gentlemen who knew the are a well. He said the neighborhood, where my house sat, was a campground for the Union Army during the civil war and that other people in that area experienced similar phenomena.

Have you ever experienced something like this?

Mine have all been friendly. Nothing more than letting me know they(it) are there.

No smells. But I've read enough that if it's rotten smelling, it's bad. Not necessarily a demon, but a pissed of spirit.

Yep. My wife and I lived in a house where you would randomly walk through what smelled like a cloud of cigarette smoke. Neither one of us smoked, and you would smell it in different parts of the house. And it wasn't coming from the AC vents.

"Thar's the stadium over thar where we play Utah State tamara night...we gone whoop they ass"

:p

Sort of. I did show them the stadium and where the Vol Walk and everything else takes place. They were overwhelmed when they saw Neyland. The stadium, not the Neyland. Although, I did drive them by and pointed out where the General is buried. We had a short thunder and lightening storm this evening and that freaked them out a bit.

I'll post it later this evening. Playing tour guide for visitors today.:hi:

OK, I'm going to try to keep this simple and clear, but knowing me, I may wander a a bit.

This past May, I started smelling a pleasant aroma when I got into my car. After awhile, either it went away or I got accustomed to it and forgot about it. But, it continued daily when I got into my car. It was pleasing but it was a fragrance that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I couldn't describe it as you would be able to describe an orange, apple or banana fragrance. It was just a light and sweet fragrance.

The next month, June, I picked up my brother to go to a Farmer's Market. After he got in the car, I noticed he was aware of the fragrance. He actually sniffed a few times.

He turned to me and asked me if I had found an old bottle of Debi's perfume and was using it for an air fragrance. It hit me then that was exactly what I'd been smelling. The fragrance from Debi's perfume. I told him no, that I had no idea where it came from.

The details to help with all this:

1 Debi was my wife
2 She died in an auto accident in 2005
3 I bought this car in Utah in 2007 so obviously she was never in it
4 Her birthday was in May
5 She died in June

I haven't smelled that fragrance since the end of June.

So, there's my story.

Wow, Sly. I fancy myself a skeptic but this makes me pause.

Thanks for sharing something so obviously personal and compelling ...,

I never knew what I smelled in house I lived in but this certainly makes me wonder

I remember Cherry Blend tobacco. No association with ghosts but it is possible.

About 2003 I was driving at night by a cemetery in Acworth,Georgia and I saw a shape walking down the side of the road by the cemetery. I believe it was a ghost because there was nobody around there when I went by.
