Ghosts..... Have you ever seen them?

Ok. This took place at a house off of Pleasant Ridge Rd. here in Knoxville. I need to say this is coming from my husband just like the other story did. He is the most sane person on the face of the planet. Here goes.

He had this friend that rented house off of Pleasant Ridge Rd. for a short while and got frightened because of all the strange goings on. I will just make a list of the things that I was told that took place while my husband visited his on numerous occasions. Maybe some of you paranormal experts can decipher what this means.

- One of the residents of the house would walk into a certain bedroom and footprints which looked like "someone" was wearing cowboys boots and they would be seen all the way across the room . These would form right before their very eyes.

-My husband was actually on the receiving end of this one. He went into the bathroom which had one of those old-fashioned door locks because this was an old house. As soon as he shut the door, the door locked itself before he had a chance to lock it.

-All of the residents of the house and my husband were sitting in the living one evening watching TV and heard this big crash in the kitchen. So someone went in there to check to see what the commotion was and all the dishes on the cabinets had fallen out and crashed to the floor. Keep in mind there was no earthquake, thunderstorm, or anything of the sort to cause this to happen.

Shortly thereafter the residents moved away. My husband still talks about that house to this day. He always says how creepy it was and that it had this certain odor.

About 10 years ago, I was renting a house in Nolensville. Single at the time, it was just me and my teenage sons. I am a very deep sleeper, I sleep through thunderstorms, tornado sirens, you name it. My sons coming in the front door after work is the one thing that would typically wake me. I have an old dresser in my room which is civil war era. It is quite loud when you open and close the drawers. One night, I woke to what I thought was one of my sons coming in. As soon as I opened my eyes, I saw a small boy standing beside the dresser. He laughed at me and ran away. My imagination, I thought. So, I got out of bed to go talk to my son. However, nobody was there. I was in the house alone. After thinking about it, the sound that woke me was more like the drawers opening and closing in the dresser than the sound of the door. Never thought I saw a ghost before, or since, but I am convinced I saw one that night.

My wife and I rented an apartment in Knoxville that I'm pretty sure was haunted. We had a few different really weird thing happen while we were there. Spices and things like that would frequently fall off the shelves in our kitchen when no one was in there. I checked the shelves and they were level, and it was never during a storm or anything that could shake them off.

We were friends with the family that lived under us. We would leave for the weekend every now and then to visit my parents in Nashville, and more than once we would come back and they would tell us they heard voices and our TV turn on and off during the time we were out of town.

Speaking of the family that lived below us, they had a little girl who was about 4. One day the mom asked if we'd tried to come down and see them the night before. Apparently their daughter said she'd seen a girl in a white dress on their patio and talked to her. When the daughter described her, the description sounded similar to my wife so they asked us about it. They got kind of weirded out when we said it wasn't her. Their daughter was also really confused about whether the girl had come in the patio door or not. From the way she described it, it made it sound like she walked through the sliding glass door while it was closed.

This is the one that creeped me out the most. One morning I had a later class and was sleeping in. I kind of half way woke up and thought I was talking to my wife. My eyes were still closed, and I rolled over to put my arm on her, but nobody was in bed with me. I asked her where she was and the voice said, "I'm in your bedroom." I immediately sat straight up in bed because it hit me that she would have already left for work. Nobody else was there. Obviously a skeptic could just say I was dreaming, but I know I wasn't.

Bump. I have a question for the ghost hunters. There seems to be a pattern about the stories I've heard from my husband and the ones on here. Most of these have occurred in older homes being rented. Is it common to have these kinda of things happen in newly built homes? or just the older homes? Maybe a stupid question but I'm just curious. Anyone have a story about a haunted newly built home?

No pro, but it seems to me it has to do with the history of the property/house. So I wouldn't think it would be impossible for things to happen in a new house. My first experience (ghost) was in my new home I bought in 2008. I slso believe mine followed me there too. So.....

So ghosts can follow you around no matter where you move to. I guess people are under the assumption that if u move away from the ghost, that it will leave you alone. I happen to be one of these people that thought that very thing. Learn something everyday. :)

I think it varies. I would think in most cases, the ghost is there. And there to stay. Such as your husbands encounters. Mine on the other hand, I started mine. That's why they can follow.

This past May, I started smelling a pleasant aroma when I got into my car. After awhile, either it went away or I got accustomed to it and forgot about it. But, it continued daily when I got into my car. It was pleasing but it was a fragrance that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I couldn't describe it as you would be able to describe an orange, apple or banana fragrance. It was just a light and sweet fragrance.

The next month, June, I picked up my brother to go to a Farmer's Market. After he got in the car, I noticed he was aware of the fragrance. He actually sniffed a few times.

He turned to me and asked me if I had found an old bottle of Debi's perfume and was using it for an air fragrance. It hit me then that was exactly what I'd been smelling. The fragrance from Debi's perfume. I told him no, that I had no idea where it came from.

The details to help with all this:

1 Debi was my wife
2 She died in an auto accident in 2005
3 I bought this car in Utah in 2007 so obviously she was never in it
4 Her birthday was in May
5 She died in June

I haven't smelled that fragrance since the end of June.

So, there's my story.

That makes sense. Have u had any encounters lately? I know you were talking about some previous encounters earlier in the thread.

Yes.

At least once a month. Maybe more,but I've gotten to were I tune it out. Everything I've read suggests this.

Example: only one home, I'm in the shower, but yet some one passes by the door of the shower.

My well pump has been off for about a year, but yet I walked in to the well house- the pumps trying to run and the house is flooded.

Shower incidence happened the week before. I ignored it. Following week the well house is running.

Coincidence?

You may have stated earlier in thread so I may have missed it, but do you know "who" this ghost is? Whoever it is has his/her hold on you. Now that I'm thinking about it, I remember you posting something about a nightlight in your son's room. So "whoever" has their hold on your entire family?

Yes I know who it is. I asked. It told me. It's not on the family. It's on me.

It's friendly ( I wish to believe) but I know who it is.

Well at least you know who it is and that he or she is friendly. It's my luck that I would have a ghost follow me around and he or she would be unfriendly and not like me. I would prefer a friendly ghost and one that I know over the opposite of that. Probably wouldn't scare me if I knew who he or she was. Now a "stranger" and unfriendly ghost, then I would be scared.
