Give the devil his due (Kiffin)

I didn't know the offense was responsible for kicking. I thought that was special teams. And look who Kiffin had to work with... you are going to blame Kiffin for Daniel Lincoln??? Really? Lincoln hasn't been a good kicker since November of his freshman year.

My only criticism of Kiffin is something that Al Davis addressed and that is his late game clock management.

So it's inappropriate to blame the head coach for marching out a lame kicker? My bad. I give Kiffin credit for handling Jonathon Crompton and playing tough defense against UF and Alabama and that's about it.

which one one is 152-52? which one is 12-21?

It's okay to be a Kiffin hater without reverting back to Coach Stay Puft. Never forget who's responsible for the situation we find ourselves in today.

I suppose I shouldn't be too hard on your 152-52 boy. He did have a tremendous record against Hal Mumme, Rich Brooks, Brad Scott, Gerry DiNardo, and Mike Shula.

Of course it would be because of that... its called sour grapes. In spite of how Kiffin left, you can't deny what he was able to do with what he had to work with, nor can anyone deny Crompton's improvement.

Finding one player's improvement, and giving Kiffin credit... Geez. To be fair, why did Kiffin only improve one player?

We cut down on some of the boneheaded mistakes, but that offense was horrible. They couldn't even do something simple like kick a couple of 30 yard field goals to beat your biggest rival on the road.

2008:
268.8 yards/game (116th in the NCAA)
17.3 points/game (T-111th in the NCAA)

2009:
383.5 yards/game (60th in the NCAA)
29.3 points/game (43rd in the NCAA)

I think we would have beaten LSU and Arkansas if Ainge didn't get hurt. Then we would have had only one loss that season to Florida by a point.
We should have beat LSU with Crompton had our defense not given up every big 3rd and 4th and long to Jamarcus Russell in that game. Plus, we still had the game won in the closing minutes, but needed Russell to drive the ball down the field on Chavis' well respected defense...

People forget that Lincoln got off a 47 yarder in the 1st half of the Alabama game that wasn't blocked and missed inches short. It wasn't unreasonable at all for Kiffin to expect him to make one 3 yards shorter.

The biggest bunch of revisionist history ever.

Ask Nick Reveiz, Dan Williams, Chris Walker, Jacques McClendon, and Montario Hardesty how Kiffin didn't improve them at all.

Kiffin's problem is not coaching talent. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just fooling themselves. His problem, and it is one that can sink him, is ethics and morals.

I give credit to Kiffin for hiring Cregg and Chaney. Those guys did a great job polishing a turd.

So, now Lane was the defensive coordinator too...??? :)

Why didn't 22 players show dramatic improvements under the great Lane Kiffin? Why was it only a handful?

To say we were better on offense last yr than in 2007 is laughable. Kiffin was better than clawson. Congratulations lane

You can win being a douche. You can't win if you don't recruit and coach at a high level.

I guess we could have just ran out the clock instead of trying to win like we did against Florida... He should have saved that gimmick play calling for Virginia Tech so Beamer wouldn't have made Monte look so bad... That would have been the game to sit on the ball not Florida..

No one can disagree we were a well coached team especially on offense.

Cregg on the OL did an amazing job. Hopefully Hiestand who has a better resume than Cregg can do the same or better.

The organization and play calling on offense was very good. Hopefully Chaney can maintain that and improve as well.

Mitch Browning is he guy you should be thanking for the OL.

I don't think we were ready for Arkansas, they couldn't be slowed down on either side of the ball, but if we beat Florida & LSU like we should have we could of got a rematch in the SECCG.

People complain about Cutcliffe & his offense but Ainge threw for over 6,500 yrds in 2 seasons. We won't see numbers like that for a while prolly.

Why are we bashing Fulmer? Is it that he won 76% of his games? Is it the National Championship. I know its that he spent his adult life dedicated to UT. I agree it was time for a change. But putting him down really shows the lack of respect for all he did for this University. I know some kid is going to bash me for posting this. But enough is enough this is UT show a little respect!

Lincoln was injured. Kiffin made a calculation that didn't work out for him. That doesn't make him a bad coach or even mean it was the wrong decision. We could have just as easily been talking about some other way UT lost.

To be honest though, I was yelling at my TV when he took the ball out of Crompton's hands and put it on DL's foot.
