Give your short, sweet summary/opinion of the OW Game

I forgot to mention that Von Pearson looked like he can shed tackles and will be a dynamic player when he gets his hands on the ball.

No proven QB AND WEAK D, but a lot of young talent and more coming still 2 years away from a shot at 8 wins.

We all know that the top teams in the SEC has got Good OL play and DL play we are poor in both, we need more big strong OL and DL before we can play with the elite, you got to crawl before you walk, a lot of people on here think we can walk first it wont happen wish it would but it wont, with what spots left for the 15 class go get OL and DL we are thin and weak with what we got everybody is worried about the QB but we got major concerns in the OL and DL.

The offense made a good showing because practically all of the pieces are already in place in Knoxville. Nonetheless, they'll be even better come this fall with everyone on board. Defensively? The paradigm changing speed and athleticism isn't yet on campus------for the largest part. I can't decry skepticism as of yet. Most
likely, a more characteristic CBJ defense will be evident by mid-season, with the offense displaying a lot of speed and talent at the get-go; and they're going to be awesome about when the D gels. I'm hoping for 7 wins. Too many unknowns with such a dearth of experience.:compute:

I never had credibility. FL is a win this year they have nothing on offense. Even though our defense looks like a mess, their offense is just as bad. We should be able to make plays. We score two TD they will lose.

Please stop. Florida had no offense last year and beat us as usual.

Loved what I saw out of the skill players on offense.

Glad that 16 of the 18 players coming this fall are slated for the defense.

Thought this was an interesting comment from Butch yesterday. We know that Paulk and Scott are definitely offensive players, right. So that means everybody else is playing defense? Both Berrys? Vic? Interesting.

glad u manned up! kudos to you bro! :good!:

oh, and on the 2nd part.....i hate to say "i told you so, but......"...lol

Oh, so your biased spin really isn't about "the media" after all. You just hate you some Ferguson. Ok, I'll stop arguing with you now that I know what's up with you.

-Worley looked the most like a QB he's ever looked, confident and sharp

-Worley's run shouldn't alarm us about the defense, Worley can run better than you think. Obviously our DB's are faster than him, that was just very good decision making.

-I'm eating a lot of crow over Dobbs right now. I get a lot of flak for being a Dobbs hater, and he shut me up today. Kid looked miles better than last year and obviously wants to be on the field again.

-Darr has a boot.

-North looks bigger, stronger, and more sure-handed than ever.

-Croom looks like North now. I have very high hopes for him.

-VP doesn't like to get tackled. Any opponent trying to tackle him better wrap him up completely or he's not going down.

-Hurd and Malone lived up to the hype today.

-D-line worries me.....

-O-line worries me...... but not as much as the D-line

-This roster is already seeming much better suited for this offense

-Ferguson was disappointing. I have faith in our coaches' judgement but it's hard to see where Fergs is better than Dobbs

-Not trying to be a hater, but I can see why Butch is calling the defense "soft"

Fergs was 7-12 and lead us on a touchdown drive early. We don't give him credit because we ran it in instead of him throwing it. He also was the only qb that checked down without it being called. I am not counting the throws to young because when he is in we are trying to throw to him out of the backfield. Fergs has the most natural throwing motion.

In 2 years we will be competing for championships. Not 8 wins.

We have a 'shot' at 8 wins this year.

I agree. Most of the SEC are replacing key starters on both sides of the ball. We may be younger than most of those teams but with this recruiting class our youth is more talented than others (not named Alabama). It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I believe 8 wins could realistically be on the table this year.

Remember Brays Soph year he was like 4-20 in the O&W game. Ferguson will see plenty of action this year. You can bank on it. Stop placing so much emphasis on one scrimmage game.

I think it might have been the 50 mile per hour wind that affected Bray. Its possible Jones bends to the mighty pressure of Volnation and starts him.after all,he pulledWorley and played ,who was it?Remind me...the next great QB with no game experience because he "played well in practice."
Ive been watching this **** for 40 years, don't need any help breaking down the game film, thanks.

Our schedule is brutal. 9 teams that played in bowl games last year. One that didn't named Florida. 6 wins would be overachieving.

Remember this. As bad as this team was last year, we should've been one of those teams in a bowl. Should've beat Vandy easily. Can't judge how good a team is because they made a bowl. So many bowls that at times it looked like it might be hard to find a six win team to fill them all. The schedule is tough but not just because so many made bowls. Those are not the same teams this year as well. I still think six wins is where we should be this year and anything more is just gravy.

These should be wins...

Utah State
Arky State
UTC
Vandy
KY
Mizzou

These in all likelihood will be losses...

Oklahoma
Florida
Georgia
South Carolina
Alabama
Ole Miss

Like I said before, 6-6 will be what we finish I think though 5-7 would not shock me.

I see it as

Should Win:
UTC
Utah St
Ark St.
KY
Vandy

Toss Ups, will depend on what their new QB and personnel play looks like:
UGA
SC
Florida
Mizzou

True Toss Up:
Ole Miss

Would be an amazing upset:
Oklahoma
Alabama

EDIT: left out mizzou on first attempt cause had them at sure win and meant to change them to personnel toss up.

So much fail in this thread discussing the QB position based on one scrimmage regardless of who you like. This one game does not decide the pecking order for a good coach.

We have a good one by the way.

Should Win:
UTC
Utah St
Ark St.
KY
Vandy

Toss Ups depending on personnel:
SC
Florida

True Toss Up:
Ole Miss
Mizzou

Loss:
UGA (because they didnt really lose a lot, get their injured guys back like Gurley and Marshall and we play in Athens)

Would be an amazing upset:
Oklahoma

6-6. 5-7 would not surprise me.
1000% probability of 1-11 or better.
99% probability of 2-10 or better.
96% probability of 3-9 or better.
93% probability of 4-8 or better.
85% probability of 5-7 or better
67% probability of 6-6 or better.
55% probability of 7-5 or better.

30% probability of 8-4 or better.
22% probability of 9-3 or better.
13% probability of 10-2 or better.
7% probability of 11-1 or better.
2.7% probability of 12-0 or better.

We should knock off Utah St, Ark ST, Chatt, depleted Vandy, depleted Mizzou at home, improved KY for 6 wins (only two or three will be easy though).
Florida (weak offense/great D), Georgia (wounded warrior offense and more experience but underperforming D) and USCe (lost key players but only 10 total) are toss ups. Ole Miss slight underdog, OK & bama underdogs.

We are the only D1 team that doesn't return at least 1 starter on the O line. It's going to be a long season. Schedule is more difficult as Utah St and Ark St are much better than Western KY and South Al.

Yeah but our O line is still better than 70-80+ teams in D1.

Our schedule is brutal. 9 teams that played in bowl games last year. One that didn't named Florida. 6 wins would be overachieving.

Bowl game or not we should beat utc, Utah st., ark st., Kentucky, and vandy. That's 5 wins there, winning 1 more on the remaining schedule shouldn't be overachieving. I believe 6 should be the base and anything would be icing.
