Global Warming?

I went to Montana once. I was there on June 30, and we set up hooches outside. Went to sleep, woke up freezing in the middle of a blizzard. Needless to say, I could give a rats ass about that state, and if it warms up, woo-hoo. Blizzards at the end of June are just not right.

Glacier Park was one of the most beautiful things that I've seen in this country, and I've seen a lot of it.

My camping trip there was truly a spiritual thing..

I agree that it is sad that glaciers are melting, however, I have a hard time with mankind taking the blame. I get upset when I plan a ski trip and I end up skiing on ice in the Rockies because the weather was not suitable that week, however, I don't go looking for someone to blame.

Did you the piece done during the Winter Olympics about the Italian ski resorts that are melting away? They have actually gone to such great extents as making a huge "blanket" to go over the snow. The blanket actually traps the cold air in and keeps the warm air out.

Unfortunately, it costs way too much money to cover every square inch..

True. However, they have the bones of Adam and Eve on display at the Chicago Museum of Natural History.

By the way, that was sarcasm, purely put to use here because there is not other intelligible way to communicate with you.
Ooohh!! That was harsh. Sorry that I am under your skin so bad. You aren't so easy to communicate with yourself.

REAL, I really find it hard to believe that you seriously call yourself a conservative.

Nobody else on this board has a hard time calling me a conservative. Just because I do not believe in legislating morality, in no way keeps me from being conservative. On the contrary, your desire to legislate morality is your sole basis for wanting to call yourself a conservative.

I call myself a conservative because I support most if not all conservative viewpoints. That is easy to see. With you it is not so obvious. My belief about gay marriage is just one issue.

Just for the record, I think TRUT is a conservative and smoke em is Pat Robertson.

Are those the only liberals you know of? They seem to be the only ones you ever refer to. At least, for our entertainment, throw in a Feinstein, Boxer, Dean, or Schumer once in a while.

As for Smoke em he is a youngster. Life will be his educator.

I am against the legislation of morality, including in the morality legislated by the redistribution of wealth. Who decides what is fair and just in that system?

Ditto that. Started in Two Medicine campground, went to Many Glacier and did the Iceberg Lake hike. Did the Going to the Sun drive and then camped in Apgar. Simply outstanding and awe-inspiring.

Also did Flathead, Butte, Bozeman, part of Yellowstone and took the Beartooth Highway to Red Lodge. Stayed there in the same hotel that Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hickock stayed in.

OWB, I don't have time right now, but you might. Could you please find a picture of the Colorado River 20 years ago and the Colorado River now?

I saw "An Inconvenient Truth" and I believe a lot of people need to change things. Let me ask this: Say new laws, treaties, and coalitions are formed to put in motion healthier products and transportation to slow global warming, but warming never existed. What have we lost? I say nothing.

I looked and I can't find any pictures, but I found a lot of reading material on it. All I have to say is if you live in the regions that depend on the Colorado River for water supply, start buying bottled water now.

I certainly think that the Government should help legislate an issue like gay marriage. The reason is simple. When certain judges try to rise above the law and allow something to take place that is opposed by approx. 80% of the American population, then something needs to be done to protect that majority. Thats common sense. Did I mention that I think abortion should be illegal?? Just wanted to throw that in. That will get the pot stirred a little. Murder is wrong. Simple as that.

Where exactly is that in the constitution that the judiciary should operate based on popular opinion?

So the government shouldn't care about the wishes of the american people. The majority are simply opposed to it and they want an ammendment. Bush realized that, and that is why he backed an ammendment to define marriage as being between one man and one woman.

It depends on which branch of Government you are talking about. Of course, elected officials should concern themselves with the will of the people, but the judiciary should never consider public opinion. That's not their job.

What about when 80% of Americans are for certain things like stem cell research funding?

I would like to see the poll that says 80% are behind government funded embryonic stem cell research.

There is already funding for this and the private sector is working as well.

Well ok, it's more like 1/5 of the Americans are against it. That's still a lot of people for it.

I have no problem with stem cell research, but it does not need to be government funded. if it is so promising, private investors will line up to make it work and make their money.
