God Dang I freakin hate Duke!!!

Do you mind answering my questions, or are you too busy Googling the Heat's starting lineup?

Yes, Duke is good. I know this. Yes, UNC is good. I know this as well. However, two good teams does not a great rivalry make. There's no debating that UNC and Duke are rivals, but the "fans" make damn certain that it isn't the best rivalry in college sports.

I've already answered them. Patience is a virtue. Is that what makes the typical Duke fan? that we have patience?

Also, I don't make damn certain it is or isn't anything. Your jealousy for how big the game is nationwide is what makes the rivalry so big. Fans of the schools relish it and haters of the schools cry about all season long.

1. I became a Duke fan at age of 9 because I liked Bobby Hurley. I've described my reasons for liking Duke probably 100 times on this board, including in a thread just two or three days ago.

2. I've been to multiple games at Cameron and also seen them @ Clemson, at UVa and in two NCAA tournament games.

3. I've already answered this question.

I'm the typical Duke fan huh? Typical Duke fans like the A's, Redskins and Tennessee football? Or is it that typical Duke fans defend their team? I mean no fan does that. Or is it somehow related to my career field? My religious preference? The size of my shoe?

Oh, man, so you became a Duke fan when they started winning titles? You're such a good fan. Really born and bred with that hatred for UNC!

actually I started watching them when they got curb stomped by UNLV. thanks for knowing how old I am.

I also wasn't born and bred with any hatred towards any school. I dare you to find me someone that was born with hatred to a school.

even if that's genetically possible, it doesn't make or break you being a fan.

You didn't become a Tennessee fan because you were born with a hatred of Bama. You were taught that and rolled with it. No different than me choosing on my own to root and cheer for Duke because I liked their PG and their HC.

Oh, you mean in their third-consecutive Final Four? When they lost by 30 in the title game before winning back-to-back?

World's smallest violin for a fan of college basketball's biggest bandwagon team.

yeah. Because as a nine year old I knew Duke was about to embark on a 23 year run of greatness. Especially after they just lost in the biggest route in NCAA Championship game history. Genius.

Being a Tennessee fan has a certain degree of state pride. You know, being the flagship school of Tennessee and all. Hating the flagship school of a border state in a rivalry that has actual territorial ties for most fans of both teams.

A little bit different than Michael Gutierez from Santa Fe, New Mexico loving Duke because they're consistently among the Top 25 college basketball teams.

Do you have any clue that over 80% of my family is from North Carolina? That I have a ton pride in that state as well as the state I grew up in, Tennessee? That I spent part of every year of my life in North Carolina? That I currently reside in North Carolina?

They had literally been to the Final Four in two previous seasons. They were playing for the national title. Didn't take a "genius" to figure out that they were pretty good.

this seven/eight year old paid no attention to that. I liked Bobby Hurley. You can take your jealousy and not believe it, I don't give a damn.

Oh, weird, then maybe you should have been a fan of a state school instead of a tiny little private school that just so happens to kick ass at basketball.

Also, I had no idea that Johnson City was in North Carolina. You're teaching me so much!

I'm from Johnson City numbnuts, I currently live in Fayetteville, NC. This place will never, ever be called home.

So because I chose to root for Bobby Hurley, I'm a bandwagon. Great logic. You should meet up with bamacheats. Y'all would get along great.

What a touching little story! Don't you just love it when an impressionable young child falls in love with the NCAA's all-time assist leader and one of its Blue Blood programs?

You realize that it says "location," not "hometown in which I started my love affair as a bandwagon fan of THA DOOKIES," right?

And, yes, you are a bandwagon fan. The textbook definition. Let me guess, you became a fan of the A's when the Bash Brothers were all the rage?

yeah, especially when he was a sophomore and I grew up watching a school from a state I spend a lot of time in. just shocking.

You need to grow up and realize people become fans of a school for a number of reasons. This is just silly.

I didn't care for either of the Bash Brothers. I loved Dennis Eckersley and Rickey Henderson. Regardless, anyone that can go through the nineties and remain a loyal A's fan shows that he isn't a bandwagon fan.

also, anyone on here that I would consider of any importance to me knows that I am stationed at Fort Bragg. Lots of others do too. No one else is hung up on the fact that I still put where I consider home as my location. Sorry that's so tough for you. Actually, I'm not going to lie, especially on Easter. I'm not sorry.

Again, a school that was winning quite consistently and had a fantastic point guard. Just don't want you to forget that tidbit. What, was Western Carolina not accepting fans?

People become fans of school for many reasons. Some of which, like your childhood infatuation with a perennial contender, are stupid and scream "BANDWAGON."

Oh, yea, the Oakland A's. Hey, wait a minute, didn't they just recently HAVE A MAJOR HOLLYWOOD BLOCKBUSTER MADE ABOUT THEM? Didn't it STAR BRAD PITT? Smells like your M.O. all over again.

It's okay. Just another in a long line of VOLFANBILL INCONSISTENCIES. What, did Fort Bragg get named best base or something?

also, can someone please give me the textbook definition of a bandwagon fan? Someone not named notabed? Someone that can give the definition of bandwagon fan and have said post actually have substance in it?

yeah, I knew at nine years old, my first year watching basketball, that Duke, a team with no previous national titles was about to embark and become the greatest team over the next 20+ years.

you can ask just about anyone that has been on this site for as long as I have, I've always been an A's fan. Thanks for making dumba** assumptions though. Keep making yourself look like a jealous fool.

yeah, I'm stationed at ft bragg by choice. You really are an idiot.

I'm a bandwagon fan. Yep. My college football team has one one title in my 30 year existence. They aren't even going to bowl games lately. My NFL team hasn't done squat since 1992. My MLB team last won the World Series 23 years ago. I'm a bandwagonner.

At 9-years-old you certainly picked one hell of a team to be a fan of, huh? Three straight Final Fours! Hurley! Quite a coincidence that you didn't pick Northwestern!

You sure do reference a lot of people who can help corroborate your stories. Where are they, exactly? Are they all in Indianapolis getting ready for Duke's loss tonight?

I NEVER KNOW WITH YOU, BILL!

there probably just ignoring you. Truth is, I don't know any of the Duke fans on this site, I don't really care. I don't know of a single A's fan on this site. there are two or three, but I know nothing about them. If you want to continue to be a jackass and not believe, that's fine. Again, I don't really care.

Wait, so the real Oakland and Duke fans don't accept a bandwagon boy into their ranks. Color me surprised!
