This new pack of posters are cute. They add no value and are quick to flame with name calling.

You call everyone you disagree with a tool?

well this is my 155th post and so far ive called 1 person dumb and 1 person a tool. the recipient of both comments was well........you.
i disagree with lots of the negavols in the football forum but yet i can see why they feel the way they do.
your opening post in this thread however is something i just cant even begin to comprehend.
i guess its my fault though, i just cant see the forest for all the trees being in the way.

No it's not you. There's been thousands of posters and all have disagreed with the OP...yet he still is insisting that he's right and everyone else is wrong.

My opening post in this thread was made walking out of the Forum after getting clown stomped at laughed at by a very mediocre Memphis team.

Okay, then why not say "Obviously Martin should not have been fired. I was mad and upset and had a tad too much liquor in me and made an outlandish statement."

If you don't think Martin is the guy for the job, then I don't begrudge that opinion. There is some evidence to suggest me might not be that guy. I completely disagree, but we aren't soothsayers, are we?

He's not the guy for the job. He can certainly prove me wrong.

And I don't drink liquor.

Alright then, but he's the guy at the moment. You at least have to admit he deserves a couple years to get his program. In year 3, if we haven't made the tournament, I have no problem letting him go.

Twas a joke.

IE, I was never a Dooley guy. I thought he was a bad hire, and didn't believe he was going to lead UT to championships.

However, I gave him a chance. Why? What else can I do? I'm just a college student that doesn't know ****, there's always the chance I'm wrong. I'm human. No point in ****ing about it after his first year. Hell, I was actually very complementary towards him in 2010-preseason 2011.

What I'm saying is this: It's crazy to insinuate that Martin should have been fired after that game and that year. Would you agree? If he doesn't make the tourney, then I could see reevaluating him as the head coach.

He's the coach of my team. I'll watch every game anguishing in defeat and celebrating the victories.

Would you at least give credit for Martin getting his team to buy into his defensive system and having a very surprising SEC run?

Obviously he wasn't going to be fired in January. But unless he gets way ahead of the curve in coaching he'll struggle against the teams we long to beat. As Vol fans, making the tourney should be a given as an expectation.

I like the high expectations and I mean that. But that hasn't been UT since the NCAA Tourney expanded to 64 teams. Before Pearl, UT only went to the tourney five times between 1985-2004. That's not good. At all. Now Pearl came in and raised expectations.

Like I said, if Martin doesn't make the tourney this year, I'll be highly concerned. But, IMO, I'm always willing to give a guy a pass his first year to establish his program.

Also, UT won the same amount of games in 2011-2012 as they did in 2010-2011, and lost 88% of their scoring, while bringing in only one impact freshman recruit who only played half the year. That's pretty damn good.

Surprised for sure. Both for sweeping UF and losing to UGA, UAT, and ole miss.

I was not happy with the UGA and UAT losses. Ole Miss....eh....it was what it was.

In defense of Martin, they only played bad twice after the UGA loss: UAT and Savannah State in the first NIT game.

Bad losses in basketball happen for every team outside the top ten.

It's not like you offered up a well though out, informed opinion. Trying to explain this incredibly idiotic thread as anything more than a knee-jerk reaction will continue to put you into new lows on the credibility scale.

Hey man, you're making progress. You're almost admitting your thread was a knee-jerk reaction!

That's at least the second time I've posted that in this thread. But don't let the facts get in the way of your name calling, personal attacking tirade posts.

The facts??

Hey IE, you know you must take some heat for this thread. I would hope that you expect it, seeing how you are such a good sport.

No one is going to think badly of you for changing your mind about Cuonzo.

ok guys,
correct me if im wrong but it seems like i remember coach martin saying this about the early season: i had to let them play their way to show them that my way was better......thus the improved play after the first 10 games or so. am i correct in remembering that? i have no links or anything to back this up.

First 15 games or so we were awful. Then coach made his statement about letting them play their way so they would learn. Stokes helped very much to turn us around.

You're correct.
