Good News on Stokes

Is that the late registration deadline? Who is to say he hasn't already enrolled but it is under wraps.....

I am sure he can enroll in more than one place and be fine to go past those deadline.

I'm not sure you can enroll in two different universities for the same semester, can you? You can apply to as many as you like, but enrolling entails financial support, etc.

I would think you can. You can withdraw from one and attend another I don't see the difference.

I think the problem is Full time versus Part time when it comes to Financial Aid...Hard to say this but without knowing tough to take a player that has laid off for a year....Scholarships available are UT and Ark the only ones with ready offers?

It would be really nice to see him in orange this year (or any year for that matter). He'd instantly be a star here.

He's said that available scholarships won't be an issue at any of his 4 schools. I assume that means HOPE or something for UK or Memphis.

I think Tennessee has a scholarship available....So Hope would probably apply to Memphis more than UTK......I maybe wrong...I just feel it is a waste for him to sit out a year.....from organize basketball.....bad habits get formed.....

I would assume that would mean he doesn't mind paying for one semester. Academic scholarships are very tricky and highly scrutinized by the NCAA.

Yeah, I think we've had football guys do this before. Marcus Jackson, maybe?

edit: and now I see I wasn't the only one thinking this.

Ut and Ark have scholarships, UK and Memphis don't.

thanks that is what I thought and believed it may have been a reason that Ark enter into the mix late....Oh well we will know soon enough....UT needs a player of this caliber at the moment and his presence would be a positive energy for this team......I am bias though in my thought process.....

I would love to see him on the court this year for any team if he is as real of a deal as advertised.....He is gone soon but again a 1.5 year stint could bring others to the program of his caliber....It takes one or two to turn the engine over....CCM has got the personality demeanor to deal with this type of Athlete and the others that would follow....

I wouldn't assume that at all. He's never said anything remotely close to that.

If he is against paying for one semester then IMO he won't be going to Memphis or KY. Due academic scholarships being so scrutinized by the NCAA I don't think he can get the semester paid for in that way. The NCAA is very clear that academic money MUST be open to any and all students with requirements for all being consistent and getting that money at semester isn't happening IMO.

It's between Ark and UT at this point from what I am hearing.

Will announce... Dec. 26th.

From Gary Parrish (CBS college basketball writer, lives in Memphis):

Jarnell Stokes, a high school player from Memphis, said on Tuesday that he plans to announce his college decision next Monday, which is noteworthy because there's a chance Stokes could enroll in college and play as a freshman this season.

He's reportedly considering Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Kentucky, Memphis, and Tennessee, but people close to the recruitment feel, at this point, that Stokes is really just trying to decide between Florida, Memphis and Tennessee.

Thought he had to enroll by Wednesday if its UT?

We don't know that he hasn't enrolled at any school.....It would be kept under wraps and as discussed eariler he can enroll into several schools and then withdraw....at the appropriate time.....

How is anything kept under wraps these days?
