none of that matters. when Dooley was hired, HE WAS THE BEST WE COULD GET... no one else would come.. Will Muschamp said no to 3.5 million..

its fine to hit on his short comings but the bottom line is, what choice was there?? go without a coach..

How soon we forget.
You're right..... we had to scramble.

I doubt Dooley would have been considered as a HC candidate if we had of been looking in Dec, not mid Jan....he is what we have & I will support him & UT as long as hes our head coach. If hes replaced, Ill support the new coach. VFL!

There was always making Kippy the temp HC while a more solid replacement could be found.

I'm beginning to think more and more Dooley was simply a stop gap to save recruiting and build an ethical foundation back to the program. If he won some games along the way it would be a bonus. It was always going to take somebody better to put wins on the board.

I really hope he proves me wrong this weekend, man I really want to beat the bammers.

i really like how ethical he is. he has a southern accent and nice hair, so you know he's got his ethics right.

Those are points I've been hammering on about since he was hired.

And I said the same thing about Sunseri.

We hired a guy who was never a Coordinator to be our Head Coach and a guy who has been a DC most recently at Alabama A&M in 1997 to be our DC.

Those are mind-blowing to me.

and CSS can't be pinned on hamilton

This a million times.

Dooley was about the 5th or 6th choice. When you get that far down your list, and especially in the situation UT was in, you don't give a guy like that a long term deal with a huge buyout. You go for the temp for a year.

Dooley wasn't on anyone's radar for a big time job, nor is he mentioned as a candidate anywhere else if we let him go. Except for the deranged that think Georgia or LSU actually want him.

What makes all of you have such faith in Gruden?

He has a superbowl ring for one I don't care if it was with Dungy's talent. And second when I here him talk on MNF he seems to know the X's and O's. I think he could be an amazing recuiter says all the rite things kinda reminds me of Kiffen in that reguard. I think he has an eye for talent something we don't have now. These 2* diamonds in the rough we recruiting are fine and some have been productive but you can only coach so much then the natural athletic ablitiy takes over.

this looks pretty obvious in retrospect, but there were risks with this plan also.

however it looks like a no brainer when you factor in the length of CDD's contract plus the fact that his buyout is larger than that of mack brown at texas. can we get this put in the dictionary as the definition of insanity?

Didn't Hammy hire a talent search firm to look for a new coach..?...that kind of was a warning sign..

Don't all schools and even professional teams hire firms to handle a lot of the ground work? It allows a lot of flexibility to the process that an athletic department doesn't have.

I always thought it was ridiculous that Hamilton agreed to such a high buyout on a gamble hire.

DD doesn't even have connections to make good hires. All his coordinators and assistants are a joke. Yeah we score points but we make a ton of mistakes. If we were better coached we would score 50 points every game except 31. think about it.

He does not get credit for Cheney. He was a Kiffin hire.

You provide a lot of information and insight that us unconnected folks would never have and I am grateful for that, but how can you say he is the best we could get? The whole hiring process was conducted in a matter of days. If he was the best we could get then your criteria for best and mine do not have much in common.
