Good thing Tennessee didn’t hire Lane!

I don't feel good about the loss and know we had the chance to win it. Made too many mistakes. I DO feel good that we didn't quit. Anyone that follows lines knows it would have been 7 if played at Pitt. And yes, GBO!
I was being sarcastic. The fact that we were dogs at home and then lose to a Pitt team, that turns around and loses to a Michigan directional school, disgusts me to no end.
GBO??

Tennessee’s pride has become laughable. Ole Miss sure is enjoyable to watch!!! Wonder how Tennessee would look right now if they’d just swallowed their pride and gone after him when they could have. Tennessee will unfortunately struggle for many more years.

Let's get this straight, once and for all. Lane Kiffin has never won a damn thing as a head coach. And he has had several chances. Furthermore, he crapped on your front porch and rang the door bell. And you want him back because of why? Because he put up 60 on Tulane? This Tennessee fan wouldn't take that punk back if he worked for free. Stop the Kiffin worship. You're making fools of yourselves.

How exactly did he crap on the front porch and ring the door bell? You mean by leaving for a better job and doubling his salary in the process? That sounds like what 99% of people would do. And before you accuse me of being a Kiffin fanboy, I’m not, I’m just a realist.

Do any of these posters realize Josh Heupel is 2-0 vs Lane Kiffin as a HC already? He beat him 56-36 in 2018 and 48-14 in 2019…then Kiffin left for Ole Miss. We hired the guy that has put up 104 points on mighty Kiffin to his 50 on him.

Of course! That's why we had to outbid Ole Miss to get Heupel. Oh, wait...Nobody but us wanted him. Kiffin left of his own accord the one time he coached at a major football school as a coordinator; Heupel got fired. But don't let that get in the way of your narrative.

Also, the last time I checked, UCF has as much better talent than FAU as Bama does than us. Minor detail.

The situations aren't even close to the same. Huepel has done more in football than Butch ever will. It's also laughable to compare Kelly and Frost. Frost caught lightning in a bottle with players he didn't recruit and killed it one season. Otherwise he has 4 losing seasons as a head coach and is probably heading for #5 now. Frost is small school Gene Chizk right now.
You seem to subscribe to the theory that saying something makes it so. Otherwise you wouldn't make a statement like Heupel has done more than Jones. Jones is a bad coach - but he still won the MAC twice and the Big East once. Winning the AAC once is less of an accomplishment, significantly less, than winning the MAC once, much less winning the MAC twice and the Big East once.

It really isn't possible to distort the truth more than you did above. You might as well have said down is up and night is day.

I agree he was my first choice. I don't blame him for taking his dream job. Kiffin has matured alot, being with Saban sure helped him. The man can coach. We made a serious mistake not getting him or Hugh Freeze. We must have been looking for Mr. Perfect, he doesn't exist. Big mistake.

Jones was a band member. Josh Heupel was a consensus All American quarterback who won the National Championship. Josh Heupel was the QB coach/OC for 6 Big 12 championships. He has coached multiple Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks and #1 NFL draft picks. He has coached record setting quarterbacks as an assistant and as a head coach at multiple schools. He has won 77 percent of games he has coached as a head coach. Josh Heupel has accomplished MUCH more than Butch Jones in football and failed way less.

For those people who wanted Lane back let me ask you a question. How many times have you rehired an employee that walked out on the job and quit without any notice at all? Because that is basically what Lane did.

Yea, because what I said is so dumb. Lane would have come back and Tennessee football would have at least been entertaining again. Maybe he would have left again and maybe not but it would have at least been entertaining. I know most of you live in East Tennessee and are surrounded by other Tennessee fans. Trust me when I tell you no one outside of East Tennessee has any respect for Tennessee football, to the point where it’s not even an afterthought. When I tell people I’m a Tennessee fan they don’t even bother to talk trash anymore and haven’t in years. It’s pathetic

Kiffin admitted he made a terrible mistake. He even sent messages to UT basically begging for another chance. These "Fans" are just too pissed to forgive, like the UT Brass. So, NOW WHO are we going to have a shot at in the future? Name the Top 20 Coach UT will be in line for? None of them want the job. Fulmer should have hired Kiffin with a huge buyout to Tenn, and NONE to Kiffin----- and never looked back. The Guy can coach Football. AND recruit.

With NO BUYOUT; Hammy made it easy. Once again, that was then, and LK had changed. WHO would you have preferred? Kiffin or Pruitt?? Where would UT be now under Kiffin II? I say top 10. EASY. With 5 stars visiting every weekend.

That is not my question. My question was how many times have people given someone a second chance who walked off the job? If people are going to advocate for Lane coming back to UT I just hope they are willing to give that same chance to someone else who might have walked off the job and quit in the past. The reality is most people are not willing to give others that second chance. However, when it comes to their favorite sports teams it is okay.

And we do not know where we would be if we hired Lane instead of Pruitt or instead of Heupel. Please keep in mind Lane's team still has to play Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M, LSU, and Arkansas this year. That is one heck of a schedule and there is no guarantee they will win any of those games.

Kiffin will walk out on Ole Miss as soon as something better comes along. He is a slightly less scumbag version of Bobby Petrino.

As an Employer, I can tell you that I have given a guy more than two chances. WHY? Because he is the best at what he does, He gets the job done, and keeps the customers from bitching. The Bottom Line is the most important thing in Business.

I too have rehired people who left me in a lurch.
I would not have rehired Lane Kiffin.

That may be true. ALABAMA will probably hire him. However, I don't expect LK to just "Walk Out" as he did here. Everyone knows Ole Miss is a second tier job.

Here's is what I have to say about Kiffin... If you were in a relationship and the person you dated beat you black and blue would you take them back if they "changed" afterwards?

If your answer is yes then shame on you. Have some pride and self worth. Maybe he will make the next person happen but what he did to you is unforgivable. And your self worth is worth more than that.

That's how I view it anyways. He made his bed. We shouldnt have to risk it to fix it.

There is a difference in leaving a better job with a 2 week notice vs stealing the microwave and emptying the register as you go.

Told his recruits to come with him, left in the middle of the night, & we got violations because of him. If you're going to be a realist be a realist all the way. Not just with half the story for your bias.

I would have preferred Kiffin over Pruitt but the narrative being spun here that he is a top 5 coach in football is mind-boggling even for VolNation. Kiffin has had 5 head coaching jobs. He's hated at 3 of the 5 and for good reason. One is Florida Atlantic and one he has been coaching at for 18 months or so and is barely above .500.
