Good thing Tennessee didn’t hire Lane!

Where was chaos at Bama?

Where was chaos at FAU?

Where is the chaos at Ole Miss?

It amazes me how much of a pedestal Tennessee fans can put the program on and be choosers when Tennessee is a beggar program right now. It also amazes me that Tennessee fans would rather not entertain certain coaches every 3 years when at the same time those coaches are gonna wind up on our schedule every year or every few years...... "No we don't want that coach, we'd rather he go somewhere else in the league or division and just beat us every year"

That is literally the mindset of so many in the administration for the greater part of the 2010 decade.

I think Kiffin is a good enough coach, but did you really miss all the drama at Bama? Saban literally made the bus leave two different times from games without him. Saban, unlike with every other coordinator or coach who gets a job before the NC game, told Kiffin to leave. Saban very publicly berated him on the sidelines often and said he didn't discuss things with Lane, he gave him ass-chewings. He's never said anything remotely like that about any other coach. Kiffin was apparently regularly late for coaches meetings and Saban was on him all the time about it. Kiffin said he has no fond memories from coaching there and complained that the program was no fun. It is what it is, but Kiffin clearly doesn't take things as seriously as Saban. Thus Saban is the best of all time and Kiffin is a guy who washed from job to job that trolls people on twitter. His teams score a lot though.

Of course it is, but don't bother with 'ricky-b-vol', even the acknowledgement of anything positive about Kiffin puts you in the "dumb fanboy" category according to him...

The Kiffin boy fan club are extremely creepy and annoying.

Dude could be cheating on of your gf’s/wives and you’d still be cheering him on.

Tennessee’s pride has become laughable. Ole Miss sure is enjoyable to watch!!! Wonder how Tennessee would look right now if they’d just swallowed their pride and gone after him when they could have. Tennessee will unfortunately struggle for many more years.

Finally, someone nails the truth about our current fiasco.

I'll never forget the game against UCLA with Kiffin at the helm. UT had the ball inside the 5 yard line and first down. UCLA's team was not that impressive. They DID however have a very good front 4 - especially their DTs. Both went into the NFL. What does Lane do? Runs Hardesty 4 straight times at the STRENGTH of UCLA defense with very questionable OLmen. I knew right then and there - he didn't bleed UT orange - he bled California oranges (so to say).

You realized the bus left because he was still doing interviews with media right?

Like for all this drama that Kiffin brings in his suitcases, Saban still hired him........

Saban berates all of his staff constantly. Are you seriously going to deny that?

Do I need to get one of those body diagram charts so you can show us where Kiffin hurt you? Lmao

He's still a very young coach, most are just now getting their first HC gigs. Maybe he will be great, maybe not. If you look at hiring a Kiffin vs a coordinator or FCS coach I think if you account for risk, Lane is lower risk with higher chance to breakthrgh to a great coach.

No, after the last 13yrs ...8-4 for 4-5yrs is perfectly fine with me. I would be ecstatic about it as long as we were running the program correctly. I.e. recruiting well, redshirting guys, developing, and building something that can last. That was the issue with Butch.. 8-4 doesn't matter when it's clear you are screwing everything else up.
I agree he’s lower risk than a coordinator and FCS coach, although I’m sure some of those FCS coaches are fantastic. Fair enough that 8-4 would be fine for you. I think it would get old quick with a lot of fans though.

The bus left because Saban was pissed he wasn't on it when he was supposed to be. Kiffin loves the spotlight, that's why he stuck around longer than he was supposed to doing interviews. Show me a single other instance of Saban in a press conference saying he doesn't discuss things with his coaches, he just chews their ass. Which of the many coaches who have taken other jobs were told to hit the road rather than stick around and coach in the playoffs? Alabama's offense actually took a significant leap forward each year after Kiffin left and Sark became the OC.

Bottom line, Kiffin screwed us silly in Jan 2010 and contributed significantly to the decade long blackhole we are in these days. He is one of the architects of the mess you want him to clean up. I'm happy with Huepel. Kiffin took his mentee and OC for a reason. He wanted to run what Huepel ran at UCF/Missouri/Oklahoma. We won't get the clown show from Huepel though.

After a couple years, it was dumb to hold grudge because he left.

If the shoe was on the other foot, we would have no issue taking a coach in the same manner and timeline if the Tennessee job was open and someone out there down our list regarded it as their dream job..... Literally no one would bat an eye.
It wasn’t that he left, it was how he did it. But that was ridiculously long ago. I agree that shouldn’t matter one bit today.

Once again, we would have zero issue with someone leaving like that if it was Tennessee getting a coach

I don’t disagree on the whole. I personally would rather not have a coach we pick up telling recruits not to go to class, taking off in the middle of the night, and saying crap like you’re better off now that when I got here but, in the end, if they win no one cares about that kind of stuff.

ZIP, amounts to overthrown balls. Not every throw is a 90mph fast ball. He throws short routes as good as Milton and Hooker. HB just as YOU said has it with touch and finesse. Now should he start? I sure thought so at the beginng of fall camp but Milton wowed this staff when you had a transfer from VT who started 15 games, had over 43 TD's, off stats alone who should have been day one starter? Milton runs hard but doesn't have what Hooker does. While I don't want to lose HB I will say after 2 games Hooker gives us the best chance to win but would have loved to see HB running with the 1's today. Not that it would have made any difference other than the fact the OL blocking wasn't world beaters. JMHO if you evaluate a QB put them all on a level playing field..... Just saying.
Are you stating there wasn’t a level playing field? IMO , Bailey by starting some games last year and his performance in the spring game should have given him the edge but he lost the starting position. Why? Unless Heupel had some personal bias against a Pruitt recruit, the fact is likely HB is not the deal as many of us hoped.

Ole Piss will be on probation soon!

His insane obsession with the bubble screen and inability to develop a serviceable QB is what got him fired at USC. He has since had really good talent and NIck Saban to save his ass. I’ve always thought his play calling was iffy at best. Goes for it on 4rth down too much, has that silly go for 2 thing he does, and he tries to get into pissing contests with the opposing D coordinators in-game. He reminds me a lot of Harbaugh.

I hate it for the negative folks. They must really be miserable. 2-1 going into the next game. Nothing is decided.

I get that but at the same time (literally short time before signing day), I want the new coach to bring his players...... The whole Coach O calling kids ( as spoken about recently by Bray) doesn't really bother me.

The worst thing Kiffin did was give that press conference. So dumb.

We could have had Kiffin....................He is without a doubt in the top 5 coaches in the USA. But no, our fans did not want a good coach. So, we took the economy route !

Then why is he at Ole Miss? How many 10 win seasons does he have a a P5 head coach?

How many did Pruitt and Mel Tucker? After all, Kiffin started talking the Tennessee job publicly once Schiano Sunday happened and we got down to Tucker and Pruitt as the finalists for the job.... I know when you are down to those 2, Kiffin is lightyears away from them when comparing.

Hardly a "fanboy" here....

I do acknowledge he has an exceptional offensive mind. Will he be an exceptional HC someday? No idea, only time will tell.

I admit, I like Kiffin, but I never took his leaving UT the way he did as personally as so many did and have yet to let it go.

I never argued for him to be hired as UT HC (I was more in the Freeze camp). I only argued "management" make an attempt to convince fans they were serious about UT football.

They haven't convinced me yet.

I can't believe these threads still get made 12 years later. It's astonishing.

Textbook definition of insanity....... Too many spiteful knuckleheads who would rather get beat by coaches than potentially look at them being our coach.....

I truly believe there is a large portion of the fan base here that would gladly take a beat down from Kiffin this year than the thought of him coaching here again....
