Good thing Tennessee didn’t hire Lane!

You left out the part about calling the UT recruits already on campus waiting to start classes the next day and telling them to go home b/c he wanted them to come to USC with him. Or about how his one recruiting class at UT turned out to be the arguably the single worst class in UT recruiting history. Kiffin may be a good coach now (still hasn't won anything yet) but he was a punk the first time he was here and the best thing he did for UT football was to leave.

Funny, as I remember, while he was a punk, allot of people on volnation thought he was great and entertaining before he resigned at UT. They liked the way he was fearless against the likes of Saban and "the ole ball coach".;)

Ummmm No, I’m not joking. It wasn’t getting rid of Fulmer that screwed us, it was Lane leaving after one year. Cascade effect of fail after that. He was the catalyst. Get off his nuts.
Because I won't HATE the man after a decade. GEEZ! Get over it, and get a life!!!

He may be the best of THAT bunch but NONE that you referenced are acceptable.

That doesn’t matter if they are acceptable or not. At that point, Kiffin was easily the best coach we could have landed and was the only coach in the country publicly lobbying for the job. Given how Pruitt turned out, people are idiots to say he would have been a bad hire. Atleast he’d still be coaching and we would have avoided yet another coaching search

Ding! Ding! Ding! Give that man a prize.
  • In 2012, USC began the pre-season ranked #1 nationally, ahead of 'Bama, w/a roster he had almost entirely inherited.
  • The roster had 18 returning starters, 13 of the All-Conference picks.
  • It also contained 10 future NFL Draft picks including 1st rounders Matt Kalil (4th overall) & Nick Perry, 2nd Rounders Robert Woods & Marquise Lee, and Matt Barkley at QB. It also had 10 more undrafted free agents signed to an NFL team.
  • By Week 4 USC had dropped in the rankings to 13th, Week 9 to 18th, and Week 12 unranked, which is where they finished.
  • He was 1-4 in the final 5 games, losing to rival Oregon, UCLA & Notre Dame, as well as unraked Arizona that went 3-5 in their other PAC-12 games.
  • They finished 7-6, 5-4 in the PAC-12 and GA Tech blew them out 21-7 in the Sun Bowl.
  • They were the first team to go from pre-season #1 to unranked since the Ole Miss in 1964.

At FAU, his conference record was 8-0 in the first season and 10-6 the next two years. He also went 0-2 against Heupel.
But hey…..he’s mature now and $#!T

Kiffin Bama to now is more qualified than anything Heupel has done. That’s fact.

When you had in the immaturity issues from Raiders, Tennessee, and USC, he gets closer to Heupel. But there is nothing smart about trying to make Heupel somehow equal or better to Kiffin. Saban had OC opening 2 times after Kiffin. Wonder why he never went after Heupel? Not like Brian Daboll or Sark were that much better.

By the way - I consider Heupel to be one of th best offensive coaches in the country.
If that's the case then Pruitt was more qualified than Heupel which isn't true what so ever.

You seem to think typing a lie enough times makes it true. For example, insisting that a coach whose record got worse every year he was at his school (Heupel) somehow did a better job than a coach who improved his team's record by seven wins and won his conference in his first season.

I think I'll do us both a favor and make use of ye' ol' ignore button for you.
Did he win his conference his 2nd season?

Well of course. Tennessee had lost its backbone under Fulmer. He had no killer instincts anymore. It was awesome to see that. I lived in LA when he was at USC then the Raiders. I knew he’d bring that type of Trojan arrogance they had from being so dominant. But he bailed, inherited a mini-NFL team (basically a BAMA roster), $#!T the bed with them, and got fired at the airport.
I’d call that karma.

Being near .500 at Wake is a pretty big deal. You obviously aren't informed

Lol, people argue the most idiotic things on social media...

Wake Forest is a crap job for crappy coaches. The perfect place for the Clawfense. If he was worth anything somebody would have hired him away.. I don't give a crap about a coach who has a CAREER .500 record and a LOSING record at Wake Forest. If he gets a statue for being a losing HC great for him. Hope he makes lots of money and gets all those accolades. Doesn't change the fact he's not good enough to be the HC at TN. Feel free to harp about how great he is during the next coaching search. In the meantime, nobody cares about Dave Clawson and only you think we should have hired him as the HC

He has a losing record at Wake due to the fact that his first two seasons were really bad. And that’s understandable given how bad of shape the program was in when he was hired. Starting with his third year, he’s 37-27 with five consecutive bowl appearances. And that’s the first time in school history that Wake has gone to a bowl in five consecutive seasons.

Cool. Good for him and Wake Forest.

We are getting exactly what we deserve for swallowing our pride and hiring both Kidding and Bruce back. Now we get **** results while being told everything's fine while those two programs have excitement or championships to show for it.

LOL. I never said we should have hired Clawson. I said the plan when he was hired here was for him to eventually take over for Fulmer when Fulmer retired. My point was that Fulmer is gone likely because he didn't give Clawson the same autonomy as he had Cutcliffe and Chavis

Maybe Kiffin should never have left “for his dream job” to begin with, then we wouldn’t be having this conversation

I hate to say this but I hope Alabama beats the **** out of Ole Miss Saturday. The fawning on here over Kiffin gets old.

Not sure it will change the minds of those that have the giant man crush on him..... they seem to be able to justify any and all shortcomings in his past and project wonderous prospects wherever he is..... would not want him with influence over any sons or daughters (yours or mine) for fear of a serious relapse in the character department. Arrogance is a tough thing to overcome. Sad to waste his offensive genius due to terminal snarky..... it appears he is a big believer in asking for forgiveness as a fall back to doing things right in the first place. Pretty bad when one can make Al Davis look objective and insightful.

The basketball program is in great shape. WTF are you talking about?

Ummm....Pearl got fired for cheating and then straight-up lying to his boss about it. Not really a "swallowing pride" thing but an integrity thing and tied the University's hands.

He's a great coach and Auburn's won a lot of games under him, but it also has a self-imposed post-season ban, under investigation by the NCAA and FBI and had an Asst. Coach actually arrested for his actions while acting as a University employee.

That #22 Pre-season ranking ESPN has them at is nice and all, but not at the cost of future bans and scholarship reductions. (& it's 4 spots lower than Barnes & Tennessee at #18)

There is no way you can compare those. Huepel got this job as his first head gig as a career coordinator. Heupel just like Kiffin the last 4 years has been a head coach...... There is no scenario where you can take my statement and apply logic to make Pruitt > Heupel..... But anything to belittle Kiffin am i right?

That's fine and all and Bruce deserves everything thrown his way.

But if you go back and look at that season, Hamilton literally proclaimed multiple times they were standing behind Bruce Pearl. Then the only things that came out was lying to NCAA about the BBQ in which Hamilton and our folks should have gone scorched Earth on NCAA and media about crucifying Bruce for BBQ when Calipari was on record cheating down the road in Memphis.

Also the day before our game vs Michigan I believe, Hamilton did a press conference out of the blue saying he was unsure of Bruce's status going forward.... Lilterally out of no where, Hamilton went a full season of standing by Bruce to all of the sudden casting him aside when the only grievance was lying about the BBQ....... No shock here but our AD at that period never supported anything with our coaches and casted them aside anytime something happened.
