Good thing Tennessee didn’t hire Lane!

Tennessee’s pride has become laughable. Ole Miss sure is enjoyable to watch!!! Wonder how Tennessee would look right now if they’d just swallowed their pride and gone after him when they could have. Tennessee will unfortunately struggle for many more years.
Well put you on a Searsucker and have a Hottytoddy!

Come back on here in two years and tell me what a mediocre coach Kiffin is when he's competing for the west every year and we're still in the basement of the east and on the verge of another coaching search.

Ok. I suppose in 2 years if Ole Miss is still languishing in mediocrity, you will come back here and admit you were wrong?

And then didn't allow Clawson the room to make the change, which wasn't anything close to a RPO offense. Phil, I believe, was apprehensive about Clawson because the long term plan was for Clawson to replace Phil when he retired. Clawson, btw, has been a success everywhere he's been other than UT. That could have been progression that would have avoided the funk we've suffered through the last 13 years

He has a losing record at wake and barely over .500 in his career. I don't think we missed out on anything big.

I would not have had him on my list to coach UT, but he’s not been a terrible head coach. He’ll be a career 500 guy for sure, but they’ll name the field after him at Wake. He has taken them to something like 4-5 bowls, and they spanked Florida State this year. Most schools wouldn’t want him, but he’s done an above average job with what he has to work with there.

And that's fine for wake forest.

He has a losing record at Wake due to the fact that his first two seasons were really bad. And that’s understandable given how bad of shape the program was in when he was hired. Starting with his third year, he’s 37-27 with five consecutive bowl appearances. And that’s the first time in school history that Wake has gone to a bowl in five consecutive seasons.

I’m still just waiting for this mythical top ten list of Lane’s biggest wins as a HC, but for some reason his fan boys can’t produce one. Wonder why?

The bro love for a coach that left us high and dry is baffling. Not quite sure that lifeisdeep isn't Kiffen trolling us. Quite a lot of fruit hanging.

Yeah I can't understand why somebody would accept the opportunity to coach at their dream job with a large raise.
It's like a guy working at Pilot Oil turning down a job at ExxonMobil with a large salary increase.

Lol! Does not change the fact he left us high and dry. Keep on loving though!

How many did Pruitt and Mel Tucker? After all, Kiffin started talking the Tennessee job publicly once Schiano Sunday happened and we got down to Tucker and Pruitt as the finalists for the job.... I know when you are down to those 2, Kiffin is lightyears away from them when comparing.

He may be the best of THAT bunch but NONE that you referenced are acceptable.

But I thought we did hire him. I can’t name anybody that rehired anyone got anything that has slipped out the back door. Big kid IMO.

Dr Boyd’s parents. How conveniently unverifiable. 😏 How about your girlfriend in Niagara Falls?

This is exactly what I am saying. These guys act like Kiffin was the first primo choice or at least the 2nd/3rd name on the replacement list. Truth is USC's situation was only better than ours from having a roster like Bama's already there. Kiffin didn't have to try to build a damn thing there. He just had to run the show and keep recruiting at a high level...or so he thought. The show he ran...was into the ground. Keep in mind that was with NFL level players....hell he also inherited Matt Barkley then stunk it up.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Give that man a prize.
  • In 2012, USC began the pre-season ranked #1 nationally, ahead of 'Bama, w/a roster he had almost entirely inherited.
  • The roster had 18 returning starters, 13 of the All-Conference picks.
  • It also contained 10 future NFL Draft picks including 1st rounders Matt Kalil (4th overall) & Nick Perry, 2nd Rounders Robert Woods & Marquise Lee, and Matt Barkley at QB. It also had 10 more undrafted free agents signed to an NFL team.
  • By Week 4 USC had dropped in the rankings to 13th, Week 9 to 18th, and Week 12 unranked, which is where they finished.
  • He was 1-4 in the final 5 games, losing to rival Oregon, UCLA & Notre Dame, as well as unraked Arizona that went 3-5 in their other PAC-12 games.
  • They finished 7-6, 5-4 in the PAC-12 and GA Tech blew them out 21-7 in the Sun Bowl.
  • They were the first team to go from pre-season #1 to unranked since the Ole Miss in 1964.

At FAU, his conference record was 8-0 in the first season and 10-6 the next two years. He also went 0-2 against Heupel.

Nice work! Really astonishing numbers from the prodigy! Careful though, the fruit hangers have no use for facts!

You had to have made all that up. He's a better head coach than Nick Hugh Matt Franklin! We would have won the natty this year with him at the helm. Blasphemy!

They asked Sarkisian first, offered him a big raise and it was also his dream job. He said no, it'd be too crappy to leave Washington after only a year. Enter Lane.

You left out the part about calling the UT recruits already on campus waiting to start classes the next day and telling them to go home b/c he wanted them to come to USC with him. Or about how his one recruiting class at UT turned out to be the arguably the single worst class in UT recruiting history. Kiffin may be a good coach now (still hasn't won anything yet) but he was a punk the first time he was here and the best thing he did for UT football was to leave.

Then he did us a favor....? no way to show your gratitude. ;)
