Good Thing UT Doesn't Have A Boring Coach...

Since when did frequent flyer miles become the measuring stick for fan support.

Seriously? Are you comparing the support of the guy with his beer, boxers, barcalounger, and big screen TV with the support given by a guy who invests his time and hard earned money?

I don't dislike his style. I hate the coaching. All different styles can win. No accountability, limited D, no offensive execution, player indifference, etc equals hollow wins with talent and garbage teams when the talent fades.

I'm genuinely confused as to why anything besides this matters to people. These issues get more and more evident with each passing year. If there was/is ever any improvement in those areas then the majority of Pearl's detractors would have to change their tune. Sadly, I don't see that happening.

You want a first year coach with his predecessor’s players to be compared to a 5th year coach with his players?!?

To be fair, I think he meant for you to compare CLK's first year with CBP's first year, in which case Bruce was fairly successful.

It has been proven for decades now that turning around a basketball program is a much longer process than football.

Seriously?!? I think that 1 hot player can turn around a Basketball team whereas much more is needed for a successful Football team.

Stephen Curry was surrounded by great players at Davidson wasn't he? He took them to something called the Elite 8 last year.

The problem with sarcasm on message boards is that there are actually people in this thread who would have made that argument without sarcasm.

I was hoping they would jump all over it. I guess I came a little to close to some poster's reality.

I'll preface this by saying I like Bruce Pearl, but what has he done any differently than Jerry Sweet 16 Green?

Both had out of control street ball offenses.

If we don't attempt a half court alley oop dunk, we dribble and pass around the top of the key until there are 3 seconds left on the shot clock and then launch a desperation 3. Like I said in my previous post, when we had Lofton and JaJuan, we made a lot of those 3's, and bailed us out.

Why Chism is allowed to jack up 3 after 3 after 3 after 3 is mind boggling. He needs to be in the paint, where he can be dominant.

We still act like we have never seen a zone defense.

We typically don't box out.

We let Jodie Meeks make us look like rec-league clowns in Knoxville last year. After his 10th made 3, you would think we would finally double down on him.

Clyde owned Bruce, and Kevin O'Neill was child's play. Bruce has his strengths, and bench coach is not one of them.

Some of our kids that are seniors play like they have the basketball IQ of a box of worms.

I'm happy with what Bruce has done in resurrecting the program, but I want to continue going onward and upward, and not plateau at the Sweet 16. I hope Bruce can get us there.

Voldaddy...Your post is exactly what I'm talking about...:good!:

This is year five of the regime and the team, regardless of players because they come and go, is still making the same mistakes scheme, execution & discipline wise....That's coaching....

I am quite serious. Some have the means and some do not. Doesn't mean one is a bigger fan than the other. That is all I am saying.

You previously said "fan support". Support implies the giving of something. IMO, the guy who gives his time and money to the team/university is a bigger supporter than the guy on his lazy boy.

Hey Merriam Webster: You knew exactly what I meant! I would have said donor if we were talking money.

I am talented but I do not possess the ability to read your mind. Instead I rely on the education that you received; and trust that you have the ability to communicate properly.

it must suck to wake up thinking you can be confident of a UT loss for once and smugly gloat online only to have the great CBP and his pressure D make you look the fool once again! haha! maybe next time, trolls!!

I remember what happened the last time UT beat a #1....We'll have to see if Pearl learned from that experience....

Pearl is now 2-0 post-Tyler....Great job in keeping this team together and playing hard....Got to go on the road in the SEC though...Hopefully we all saw the birth of a true team this afternoon....

GO VOLS !!

Yeah, you're right... the last time we beat a #1 was under CBP. He is the man.
If by learning you mean not getting completely screwed by the refs in that rugby scrum at Memorial, I agree. Remember that game at all?

pearl haters sure look dumb now. nuff said

I am thrilled for the win. I hope the trend continues well into the tourney. I feel bad for you and your ilk. It must have been hard for you to sit there and watch that “boring” style of play that we have been requesting.
