Grading the new CFB hires....

Pruitt should be at#1 or #2 on that list. I still don’t believe none of these coaches can beat him. I’m standing firm still at 100% behind him. He is showing us already greatness at U.T.

He better show a lot of greatness before the season begins because there will be precious little of it and a lot of losses on the field this year. I’m pro-Pruitt, but this year’s roster will be the worst that he has encountered in his college coaching career.

At best #5, but #7 is about right. We have enough money to be #1 but the Tennessee Athletic Dept isn’t serious about winning.

I guarantee Fulmer is very serious about winning. Neyland, Fulmer, Dabo,Fisher, Stoops,Coker, Switzer,
V.Dooley,Carr,Paterno,Osborne,
Mccartney,L.Edwards,J.Robinson,D.Ford,J.Mckay,S. Jordan,B.Wilkinson were all 1st time HC's that won National Championships at their first school. Plus throw in what Smart, Richt,Peterson,Frost,C.Kelly,B. Alvarez,G Patterson, J.Franklin,D. Shaw,M. Gundy,L.Riley and others that were/are very successful 1st time HC's. You don't have to get a guy with previous HC success to succeed.

And just think... Schiano would have been number 1, a home run hire, if all those backward Tennesseans hadn't spoken up. I'm surprised the Patriots didn't snatch him up after it became apparent he wasn't going to Knoxville.

There will be more wins than losses this yr. We obviously don't have what Ala, Ga and FSU had when he was there but our roster is plenty good enough to get 7-8 wins, 6 at the worst.

Again another poll that is hard to disagree with. I would probably list Kelly #1. Mullen a proven HC that was able to do pretty decent at Miss ST. Sumlin who was able to beat AL what twice? Frost will be interesting to see if he can put NE back on the map. So having a first year former coordinator HC at #7 is about where you expect him. Now a side note on this is that I think Pruitt might be the most eager to win. I think he is aware that UT fans are tired of sucking. He knows that we want wins now. I don't think that he is happy with everyones expectations of it being a good year just making a bowl game. So who knows what we will get this year on the field. I guarantee you his knowledge of the X's and O's is better than we have seen since Kiffin bolted.

Jimbo is going to earn every penny of that contract. That hire was a homerun for A&M. Only wish we’d had the stones to offer him the same thing. Free Shoes U downgraded with Taggert.

You are probably spot on with Jimbo. Taggert is intriguing to me and a wild card on the list. WT can recruit no doubt. Will be interesting to see how he does at FSU.

Best coach in the west not named Nick Saban.

Very true, although that's not saying much with Malzahn,Orgeron,Morris,Luke and forget Miss St coach. Jimbo really is the #2 coach in the SEC if you go full body of work.

I don't like the look of Bill Bender's face so I'm going to go ahead and dismiss his rankings.

There must be a reason for a SCjr fan linking a 6-month old article to a VOL board.

He's a gamecock fan.
Only so many times that they can sit around and talk about that 1 year they almost did it.

Have to find other ways to amuse themselves. Plus, we just took their best recruit, he mad.

I just don't see how Jimbo could be more successful at Texas A&M versus Florida State with the West how it is. Is he the most proven and best coach pickup on paper? Yes, I think so. But in terms of winning the most I think Frost, Pruitt, or Mullen will be higher.

These guys don't know football:

Jimbo and Sumlin squandered talent the last couple of years, just like butch.

Taggart has the makings of a bust.

Kelly has been away from the game for a while, there is a good chance his system will be much less effective than it was 7 years ago.

Best hires IMHO are: Frost, Pruitt, Morris, Heupel, Cristobal, Mullen and Moorehead in no particular order.

If you look at the Coaching Staffs from top to bottom for each of these Coaches, CJP easily sneaks into the top 3.

He also scores well for integrity, enthusiasm, recruiting, brutal honesty, etc.

However, he scores very low for Butchisms such as brick by brick, 5 star hearts, etc.

Hard to argue with this. All the guys ahead of Pruitt have coached before. I dont have a problem with it at all.

It's a $75M roll of the dice.
