It only gets taken as gospel when it's preached that way.
Maybe, but typically in the crazy recruiting world, information received is only good for about 24 hours for the most part. The people who think that the same things are true now that they were 3 months ago need to change their thought process somewhat. If I have learned anything following the recruiting process, it would be in this order....
1. When a recruit says something, don't believe anything you hear until they step foot on campus to enroll or sign an LOI. Every recruit typically gives the same generic interview to every school they visit.
2. A commitment means nothing.
3. Information received can change within 5 minutes of receiving it.
4. There are kids that go to schools because they have free ice cream (true story). These kids can change their minds in an instant if presented the right things.
5. Criticizing others constantly and only being negative will result in the information stream coming to a stand still with particular people. They don't want to hear the negative spin constantly and will stop posting anything involving a recruit and will keep it to themselves.
Basically, just enjoy the process. No one is right 100% of the time, myself included, and don't get mad because these 17 year old kids change their minds and blame us because they did.
