Gran/Wilson Fall-out thread (merged)

Would you expect him to come in and say how he hopes to carry on the tradition of mediocrity and irrelevance?

At least that would be honest. But seriously, no I don't expect him to say anything like that, but there is a difference in saying you're going to win championships (like conference championships) and that you plan to make the team national championship caliber.

If Frank Wilson or Eddie Gran were to leave UT and go to LSU to take over Porter's job, how would this impact us? I would hate to lose either of them. I know they are great recruiters and great assets to this staff. If either of them left who would be the front runner to take the open spot?

wouldnt that be a lateral move pretty much for either of them?

Blasphemer! I don't think they would leave. I think it would be a matter of using it to get a raise though. Trooper is making a name at Auburn, but I am just saying that he is up and coming not that he is an option. That boat has sailed.

Some posters on here are assuming that these coaching changes will have an effect on our recruiting.....but have you thought about those same recruits following their coaches they love so well.....as in Luc to Louisville, or some LSU recruits going with Porter? It's not that far fetched.

Nope. Will be mentioned but absolutely won't happen. No big name recruits would follow Strong to Louisville.

1. They are a doormat in the Big East

2. He is completely unproven as a head coach

Luc would not go to Louisville. He is only considering UT because he has family in the area.

I would love for Strong to take some o the other players away from CUM though.

Lots of these recruits want to go to a school from a power conference. SEC offers are better than Big East football offers etc.

What we need to be praying against is a Gruden to ND or a splashy and stud DC hire at FSU that revives that program. I am also rooting for Willie M to stay at UGA because I want to score a lot on them next year.

I hope they (ND) fall off of the face of the earth, and have the worst recruiting classes in school history. Also it can't hurt our chances.

Not much when pertaining to ND's commitments. None of their commits are overly impressive outside of maybe Chris Martin who has already told us thanks but no thanks.

Whoever gets that job should win right away. ND has recruited top 10 five years in a row. Charlie just couldn't coach em.

Clausen and Tate will both leave for the NFL...their defense was horrid this year...D.Crist had knee surgery and earliest return is the spring...they will not be very good next year....

The ND situation could have more of a recruiting affect from the departure of coach X to go to South Bend....

I just don't see anything changing at FSU with the coach in waiting - Jimbo Fisher taking that job. He is part of the problem now. We need for FSU to hire someone really good, so Florida doesn't get the pick of anyone they want in the state. I know that sounds crazy, but Florida went up when Miami and FSU started their slide.

All signs point to Strong being the new HC at Louisville.

Former Cardinal QB Chris Redman, now with the Falcons, said on the Falcons radio show today that Strong would be the next HC and that his wife and kids were already in Louisville in an effort to enroll in school.
