Yes, I'm aware that most of his guitar music is complete wankery (as I call it) but, I have been studying guitar some 8-9 years now and his stuff is still mind-blowing to me from a purely technical standpoint.


Not speed. Speed and technique.

Not saying his original music is great or even good, just that I find him to be the most technically impressive. That is all.

what is so great about his technique? Ever heard Pretucci do flight of the bumblebee? plenty of speed there. Shredding is shredding...plenty of guys can do it. He doesnt stand alone on speed or technique.

You're mistaking Howe with someone else. Howe's career has never stopped. He's still playing as much as ever. I've seen him a dozens of times since the 70s. There's never been reports of drug abuse.

The guy is easily top ten of all time. Probably top 5
