Grimm

Yes to both. Except due to all her experience, Nick's mom is a lot more bad ***.

What an idiot I didn't realize till last night watching this past weeks episode that the lady playing Nick's mom is the chick that played Marian in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

I was 12 or 13 when that came out and had such a crush on her!

Technically isn't Nick's mom a "female" version of him being a Grimm as well?

I thought they established that there are other Grimms out there in the world.

Yes, but that's not what I meant. I have no problem with other Grimms, but what I don't want is for them to introduce another main character that will be on each week who is essentially just a female Nick.

That's why I referenced Person of Interest. They added the Shaw character as a full time member of their little group, and she's basically a female Reese. And it's made the show worse.

I really hope next week is a self-contained filler episode. I really hope they don't introduce this new person as a "female" Nick, like they've messed up Person of Interest having female Reese.

I'm guessing Nick helps her become a better Grimm, and understand who she is. Probably sends her to patrol some other city. Her being in a crazy house makes me think she couldn't handle seeing Wessen

Didn't expect her to be around for more than one episode. Figured they'd wrap it up pretty quick.

Not sure what I think of this episode. It wasn't bad but not sure if care for the direction it's going. Either with the new grimm or reynard.

I don't like the idea of the new Grimm hanging around. Looks like they're toying with keeping her around, and it's way too similar to the Shaw thing on Person of Interest.

'Grimm' fairy tale come true: Michigan student lands big TV role after producer visits her class -- EXCLUSIVE

'Grimm' fairy tale come true: Michigan student lands big TV role after producer visits her class -- EXCLUSIVE

This is the story of a real life fairy tale, where a Midwestern student traveled to distant lands and conquered very tall odds to land a big recurring role on NBC’s Grimm.

Last month, Jacqueline Toboni was a University of Michigan senior when Grimm executive producer Jim Kouf came to speak to her screenwriting class. The purpose of his trip wasn’t to scout talent — Kouf’s daughter attends the university. But after doing a table read with some of the students, a few of the performers really stood out. Kouf told them he had a major Grimm role coming up for a young female character named “Trubel” (pronounced “Trouble”) and that if anybody wanted to read for the part to see what a audition process was like, they were welcome to try.

The 22-year-old Toboni had studied drama at the Young Conservatory at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, but had no professional movie or TV experience. Her taped reading stunned Kouf.

“This was one of those serendipitous moments where we walked into a college classroom to talk about television and walked out with a star,” Kouf and fellow executive producer said in a statement. “Although it’s most likely the rarest of casting calls, it definitely fits with Grimm – it’s a fairy tale within a fairy tale.”

The producers then had to convince NBC executives and the show’s production company Hazy Mills. Toboni flew to Los Angeles to read for the part again, and then to test with star David Giuntoli in Portland. “When David and Jim called to say how excited they were to show us this girl they found on a college campus to play Trubel we thought, ‘Oh, no. They’re looking on a college campus? This can’t be good,’” said actor-producer Sean Hayes, co-head of Hazy Mills. “And then in walked Jacqueline. It was one of those rare moments in this business where you actually believed you were witnessing the birth of a gigantic star. We are beyond thrilled to expose her talent to everyone via our Grimm world.”

The recurring role is Teresa “Trubel” Rubel. She’s described as “tough, savvy and pretty crazy when we first meet her. Trubel can fight, she can hold her own and will make you sorry you ever crossed her path. She’s been in and out of trouble since she was 12. But despite all that’s going on with her, she is remarkably strong, she just doesn’t know what her mission is yet.”

Needless to say, Toboni is pretty thrilled. “As an actor, you think you will be waiting for this moment your entire career, and then someone walks into your classroom the next day and gives you the opportunity to make that dream a reality,” Toboni says. “That’s what it’s been, an absolute dream come true. I’m so lucky to be able to work with such talented, gracious people who have welcomed me into this fantastic series and loving family. I’m overjoyed to be the newest #Grimmster!”

Though she left school to work on Grimm she’s expected to graduate with her class this spring. Her bio notes she will receive the The Earl V. Moore Award in Theatre for outstanding achievement in the dramatic arts but, obviously, a role on a major network show trumps pretty much any university’s acting prize. Toboni’s Twitter handle is @jtaboner if you want to say hello. She currently has 366 followers. Somehow we suspect her following is about to increase.

Did anyone notice the brilliant casting of Dee Wallace as Monroe's mother? She starred in The Howling. :)

Yeah, that's a cool story and all, and I don't mind so much if she's a recurring character, but I have a feeling she won't merely be recurring.

Shaw started out as a recurring character too on POI. So I'm going to guess this new character will probably be a regular character next season.

Maybe we'll get lucky and she will just lead to a spinoff and leave the real show to the original cast. NY:GRIMM or GRIMM, LA anyone? Lol

So far I'm not bothered by a new Grimm. Who's the guy at the end holding the key though? am I forgetting something?

Felt a quality loss in the show this past episode. Felt like I was watching some bad series on CW. She needs to either die or gtfo of town.

Honestly I hate how they've mad her such a bad a$$. It's lazy cliched writing.

I can only speculate at this point.

Has anyone kept an eye on the ratings? Any reason they feel they needed to make a move like this?

Maybe she's only temporary for like several episodes. Also the fact that she said she "didn't want to get to used comfortable where she's at" is promising.

Pretty confident it's just a May sweeps/Season Finale thing. All TV shows do this.

If that was their goal, then it wasn't a good move because the ratings didn't rise since they introduced Trubel, in fact they dipped lower than the norm for the season. The episode they introduced her was the lowest rated episode of the season. It did rise the next week before coming back down a bit last week, but they've been under the 5.0 range which has been about the average this season.

I will say the last episode was better because she wasn't really the focus of the episode. If they use her more like that, I might can stomach her. But her first 2 episodes were bad.

Personally I still hope at best she's like Nick's mom; she goes off on her own and shows up every now and then, but not every week.
