Gun control debate (merged)

Those analogies fail at every level. Horribly.

The prison: First, they undertook to prevent his escape. That they failed does not render them liable for every bad act he commits. If it were otherwise, jails and prisons would be liable every time such occurred and the law does not recognize a duty to the public on the whole for this. (Trust me, this is my area of practice for 25 years, I know whereof I speak). Second, the fundamental difference is that the homeowner left a loaded gun in an open garage ALREADY KNOWING there was a risk posed.

Defense lawyers and prosecutors: They have absolute immunity for acting in such capacities. Again, if it were otherwise the system would not work.

You should’ve been disbarred a long time ago just for what you post here.

I’ve got more sharp , pointed , heavy , blunt killing devices in my garage unsecured, than I do in my house . If I leave my garage open and some criminals from the next county over steals an axe , three knives a chain saw and a sledgehammer, goes on a killing spree ..I should go to jail or be fined for putting the community at risk ? Your mind is twisted so far left I’m shocked you can walk straight .
I literally keep shaking my head reading his opinion on this. No, the government is not responsible for its failures. The criminal is certainly not for engaging in criminal activity. Turns out the home owner is the one deserving prosecution.

Seriously, @lawgator1 , all kidding aside, I frankly cannot understand how anyone, let alone someone of your professional background in the United States (other countries have different legal basis and cultures), arrives at the conclusion the homeowner is culpable in the circumstance we have been discussing. I'm not joking when I say this type of thinking scares me. It is more dangerous than a mob long term. I do not think you're alone on this; in fact far from it.

So let me ask you a serious question: do you think this would have been a common opinion 50 years ago? 40? If not, when do you think it changed and why? Not trying to start an argument or setting a "gotcha" trap. I'm trying to understand.

the fact that he wants to hold an individual to a higher standard than the government says TONS about him.

I’m not an attorney.

But if she doesn’t rescind this order, it’s going to be challenged in federal court.

If struck down will it not just create more precedent, thereby strengthening gun rights?

What is she doing?
She’s talking her 30 day order and hoping some knucklehead will actually try to enforce it. It takes a minute to get a stay against her. How many people rights can get violated in that time is up to the knuckleheads. I would tell her to kick rocks too for her stupidity.

Gun Owner Moronosity.

Gun owners should be prohibited form being morons. He is one, ergo some sort of significant penalty to remind others on the fence that, if they too are morons, they ought to reconsider owning a gun.
You’ve done a great job of dying on this hill today. Entertaining as always.

governor takes away the rights of millions where even the anti-2A crowd have to admits its unconstitutional; and not a peep from LG.

murderer escapes from jail, not a peep from LG. Murderer evades captures for almost 2 weeks, not a peep from LG. Murderer steals from a citizen and LG finally reacts and wants to punish the civilian. the only one he wants to punish in this whole scenario.

Worse of all he claims to be a real lawyer. There’s a pattern on VN pertaining to looney leftist self proclaimed lawyers.

A clerk at Right to Bear Arms who asked to remain anonymous told the Epoch Times: "We have seen a definite jump in traffic because people are nervous, and rightfully so, when they think their right to purchase a gun won’t be around in the near future," adding "There is definitely a joke in the gun community that the policies of the left are the greatest salesman of all time."

That’s been true for over 30 years

American At Its Best! ANOTHER 'RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNER'!!

A Volusia County, Florida, man was arrested early Monday morning after allegedly shooting and killing his neighbor’s 42-year-old son who had been trimming tree limbs along his fence line Sunday evening, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

Edward Druzolowski, 78, confronted Brian Ford about being on his property before threatening to shoot him, the VSO said in the post. When Ford refused to leave, Druzolowski shot the man, who died despite life-saving measures by the first two deputies on the scene.

Ford’s mother told sheriff’s deputies in a 911 call that her son had been trimming the trees at her house, which is directly next to Druzolowski’s, when her neighbor shot him. She also mentioned Ford’s 8-year-old son was near him when the shooting happened, according to court documents.....

It’s terrible that someone would commit such a senseless murder. It happens everyday in the dim s***holes and you say nothing.

So there's no reason to take anyone that would give us this seriously.

Biden has been an excellent president.

But for sake of addressing the difference between your hilarious misappropriation of the word "responsible" and the actual meaning:

All of these are recent and, of course, are not even remotely all the examples of lawful defensive gun uses, nevermind literally millions of gun owners (you know, the "actual" responsible ones) that haven't and never will unlawfully harm anyone.

he could go in and sarcastically apply the "responsible" tag to any number qualifiers when it comes to crime and get the same result. He was a responsible father, he was a responsible dock worker, he was a responsible car driver; all before he performed some relevant crime. but for some reason they only care about it when there is a gun involved.

Well, the 2A supporters got good news yesterday. VP Harris has been put in charge. That may mean we can expect an end to gun control efforts, while at the same time the administration touts how good a job they're doing on it Win-win.
