I wouldn't require people to know how to field strip a gun before they can pass laws about guns, but they need a real understanding of guns, and not rely on making up words to fit their agenda.We have to laugh at the gun nuts who think that the views of people who support gun control should be discounted because they can't "strip and reassemble a long rifle in the dark." I see this kind of lame comment on this thread all the time. By this (backwoods) logic, we should never pass any laws regulating driving because those who passed the laws weren't grease monkeys.
For the car analogy it would be like lawmakers making it illegal to own cars that CAN go faster than the speed limit. they don't understand that pretty much every car but some real old/real bad cars CAN go over the speed limit. if they had a functional knowledge of what they were trying to fix/write laws about they wouldn't craft laws that presented the above scenario to law abiding citizens.
its hard to take someone seriously when they have to make up gibberish to have a point.
