This is why this debate is impossible. One side literally thinks a minor can walk into Academy Sports, buy a machine gun without a background check, and carry it legally. The other can strip and reassemble a long rifle in the dark.

It reminds me of early CV19 days when idiots were holed up in their basements playing XBox and arguing with me while I saw patients in my office every day.

I see this kind of lame comment on this thread all the time. By this (backwoods) logic, we should never pass any laws regulating driving because those who passed the laws weren't grease monkeys.

Well, it appears that another "responsible gun owner" has appeared in public--this time in a college dorm.




"Two shooting deaths at the University of Colorado’s campus in Colorado Springs Friday morning are being investigated as a double homicide, police said.


The shooting “does not appear to be a murder-suicide,” the Colorado Springs Police Department said Friday evening.


“We are continuing to develop and follow investigative leads and will provide additional information when it becomes available,” the department said in a post on X.



Campus police received a call just before 6 a.m. about shots fired in a dormitory. University police reached the dorm at 6:05 a.m., where they found two people dead, Cronin said. Each had suffered at least one gunshot wound."

Another killer with a gun on the loose--someone who just yesterday might have been on a site like this, bragging about all the "responsible gun owners" he knows.....Well done.

It's not that most of us think you don't have a right to an opinion. It's that literally almost every one of you have no clue what you're talking about concerning guns, or the laws surrounding them. You act like it's as easy as buying a hamburger, and screech for more laws. Meanwhile, most daily shootings are committed by people who are breaking the law having a gun to begin with. For some reason , you think restricting legal gun owners, is going to magically make criminals obey.

The correct analogy is why would we allow seven year olds to pass laws regulating driving.

As I said, a coworker bought a gun on his lunchbreak 48 hours after being released from a mental health facility. He was admitted for attempted suicide. And my state requires zero background checks for private party transactions. So actually I'm quite familiar with the process.

What state is that? In Tennessee, it’s pretty difficult unless you are like me with a squeaky clean background.. takes about 30 minutes.. then you have to answer the two questions one of which was ‘have you been in a mental health facility’ or something like that…which is kind of lame, I will admit, because a crazy person will so ‘no’ lol.. because crazy people lie.. I’m a Conservative, but I wouldn’t be opposed to that info being on a database and dropping off say, every five years if no subsequent involuntary commitments for SI/HI.. but there is this pesky thing called HIPAA .. the problem isn’t guns getting to me, you, or Farmer Joe, it’s getting in the hands of the crazy azzes and the mentally ill, and they are probably not getting them legally anyway

They really should include questions about drug use or felonies, and maybe even have some sort of system where you have to run your ID through a national background check system.
