Only one problem. Vandy doesn't have any talent on their roster. He will have a hard time recruiting there. Not that he couldn't recruit talent their its getting them to meet academic standards.

Look at Stanford. They are doing pretty good considering the standards. I think the right coach at Vandy can get the talent in. If they are indeed looking at 3 mill for a coach that shows they are taking football more serious. Of course all of this is just rumor so who really knows what they are doing. I mean Gruden still has land in east tn when dooley quits or gets let go. ha ha

There is a big difference between Stanford and Vandy, way beyond coaching. Stanford has pretty decent facilities way better than Vandy, Stanford has an administration that supports winning, Vandy dosn't.

Is he really considering this or is it a joke?

if someone asked you to be the head coach of an SEC team where having a .500 record would be extremely successful, and they offered to pay you 3 million dollars per year to do it, and do it your way, would you really consider it?

Depends on where I'm at. If I'm Gus Malzahn, I look elsewhere for a job that can give me more forward momentum for the future.

If he managed to go 6-6 a couple of times in three seasons at Vandy, would probably get offers from other schools.

If he wants to be a head coach, now's the time. If Vandy is his best offer, he should probably take it.

The Auburn offense will go from explosive to average in a hurry without Newton next year. Malzahn's stock could plummet, and he'd be stuck as a coordinator for a program facing potential ncaa probation.

Malzahn will be the HC at Miss St. a day after Mullen leaves for Florida.

i really dont think Mullen leaves Ms. St. He's way to connected to the program and you can tell he really loves what he is doing there. If he had been there 3-5 years.. maybe... but he won't leave now

I know this is a stereotype, but I don't think Vandy can pull the athletes that Malzahn would need to compete.

If Florida gives him a nice offer, and he turns it down to stay at Mississippi State, there's something wrong with him.

But would he take it? Could help Vandy in recruiting by getting a guy like this. Or Does Fla. offer, or would he plan to stay at Auburn

Not a chance in hell Florida hires a guy whose last head coaching job was at Sprindale High School.

I remember thinking the same thing a year ago about Lane Kiffin.

Malzhan would fail at Vandy....no one could do good there....

Every coach would fail at Vandy. If a coach goes to Vandy for 5 years or so and doesn't fail miserbly, he can still advance his career when he's at Malzhan level. A couple of 6 -6 seasons combined with a few 5 - 7 seasons at Vandy would get him an offer from a better school eventually.

If you don't think this is true, just ask Gerry DiNardo. He parlayed 19 wins in four years into a gig at LSU.

it would seem crazy to most of us but he seems to be a guy of character. He's no Kiffin..meaning he's not going to up and leave them high and dry after a year
