I think Texas to the Big 10 is great....Finally someone will be able to deseat Ohio St. That conference is so bad that the most overrated program in the last 10 years has been winning with ease. At least Texas can win that

Why do we need anybody? We shouldn't change just for the sake of change. If we could get Texas then Slive would be crazy not to but otherwise don't add teams just because everybody else is. We have the best TV deal. We have the best teams. We have the best players and coaches and traditions. The Pac-10 needs teams to avoid irrelevance. The Big 10 needs to expand their footprint for the Big 10 network. We have billions guaranteed from ESPN and CBS for the next 15 years. No knee jerk reactions please!

THIS. GREAT POST. :clapping::clapping:

Only they were in different conferences until 1996.

The Southwest "conference" was not a real conference, it's real name was "Texas Wins Every Year"! Or Texas and the seven dwarfs.

I grant you that Texas & Oklahoma could go back to playing their game as a non-conference game, but I don't see why they would go backwards to that scenario again.

I guess we should refer to the SEC as Alabama and the 11 dwarfs then if this is total dominance.

I know if the Big 10 and Pac-10 go to 16 teams, the SEC is gonna follow and more than likely pull 4 ACC schools and I understand cause of money and making sure they compete and stay #1. That said, these "power conferences" are going to ruin college football! This will result in the BCS having to be restructured cause of their rule of no more than 2 teams from BCS conferences playing in BCS games. This is all about money and has nothing to do with athletics!

I'm still surprised of how fast all of this information is coming out. It seems like it was yesterday when nobody was giving much thought to conference expansion. Now everything seems in disarray. Good stuff.

I don't understand why some think this is bad for college football. Suddenly the competition has been upped in the power conferences, and we move closer to a true playoff.

I think Gene Stallings lobbied pretty hard to get us to go, but it wasn't enough. The sound bite I just heard made him sound like it was never a reality for us and the others to go. He tried.
