I won't take anything serious until it's official. Too many rumors saying completely different things.

I heard that Oklahoma was petitioning the SEC for inclusion. I guess we'll see how everything shakes out.

It's bad for ND, if it goes to 4 super confrences of 16 teams and ND stays independent they are done. Why you ask? No one will want to play them they will be even more irrelevent than they are now. With the brutal conf schedules all teams will have to play why would they schedule any non-cof games against anybody but cream puffs. ND will be left out in the cold!!

They did but was told they would have to bring another team with them. Seems Texas would rather play in the weaker Pac 10 surprise, surprise.

I don't understand why some think this is bad for college football. Suddenly the competition has been upped in the power conferences, and we move closer to a true playoff.

If it eventually gets us to a true playoff, then I'm all for it but IMO I still don't think a playoff will happen, even with all these changes.

I don't see why not. If this happens, the BCS is going to have to basically start from scratch anyways. And if we have 4 super conference, they'd probably just take the 4
winners from each conference and do a football version of the final four. And then just readjust all the bowl games. That seems like the most logical choice, and i for one, am all for it.

I am 100% certain the SEC gets hosed in this. I just have no faith that adding VT and someone will come close to matching what the new Pac-16 can offer in any sport. Sucks.

I heard this too. Also heard that Texas and A&M are petitioning the Big Ten. I think it's hilarious that many people believe that OU will blindly follow Texas wherever they go. Unless it's the Pac-16 "package deal", OU may not even have the opportunity to follow Texas-daddy.

I was actually listening to them when they were talking about that article. The people on the radio only said that they thought it would make sense to invite those people. Basically they were misquoted.

i think the article existed before the tx radio discussed it.

i dunno. this just isint going to be good for us...we need to go after texas tech at least and flordia state. i dont want clemson bc we already are in SC and they would only hurt tennessee recruiting...

Remember we went after FL State the last time the SEC expanded and they No. They did not want to be second fiddle to Florida in the SEC when they can be in a easy conference and win the championship or at least be in the conference title game every year.

Sure this has been posted somewhere but i don't see it. this is by the guy who broke it all:

Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma are waiting for a formal announcement by Nebraska about joining the Big Ten before announcing that they, too, are headed west to the Pac-10.

But sources say Texas A&M is still seriously exploring joining the Southeastern Conference. That charge is being led by A&M regent Gene Stallings, who, of course, won a national title in 1992 at Alabama as head coach.

The other four Big 12 South schools may wait through the weekend before making any kind of formal announcements about joining the Pac-10 to allow some time to pass from Nebraska's expected announcement on Friday.

But if Texas A&M waits too long to commit to the Pac-10, the Aggies could be put on the clock, possibly opening up their invitation to another school, sources close to the Big 12/Pac-10 merger said.

Schools that could possibly be considered for invitation to the Pac-10 in place of Texas A&M would include Utah and Kansas, among others, the sources said.

I don't know what SEC can offer to any of those teams that are considering joining SEC. I thought the amount of money that SEC will make from the TV contracts is already set for years to come. I guess this means the pie is not going to get any bigger unless SEC can somehow renegotiate the TV contract? I guess this is one of the main reasons that UTexas and OU didn't want to join the SEC?

Well from what I'm hearing there are contract clauses that allow the TV deal to be renegotiated if the league were to increase or decrease.
