GUYS- listen to ESPN local radio in Texas...

Why do we need anybody? We shouldn't change just for the sake of change. If we could get Texas then Slive would be crazy not to but otherwise don't add teams just because everybody else is. We have the best TV deal. We have the best teams. We have the best players and coaches and traditions. The Pac-10 needs teams to avoid irrelevance. The Big 10 needs to expand their footprint for the Big 10 network. We have billions guaranteed from ESPN and CBS for the next 15 years. No knee jerk reactions please!

Big 10 get much stronger--and the SEC won't be the big dog with respect to TV money any longer. I think the SEC should go strong after Oklahoma IF the sooners seem interested. This is all rather absurd--but the SEC can't sit on its hands while two other big conferences get bigger and stronger.

Big ten already has it's own network which brings in more than the SEC's ESPN contract but does not get the prime time viewers. That will not change unless Big ten decided to get rid of their network which will not hapen.

They did but was told they would have to bring another team with them. Seems Texas would rather play in the weaker Pac 10 surprise, surprise.

Texas is not going to come to the s.e.c to play 8 tough conference games instead of playing 1 to 2 tough games in the Big 12 , pac 10 or big 10. Their not going to take a chance on coming to the s.e.c and not making a BCS or National title run every year like they do now. They can go to any other conference and still be top dog except for the S.E.C. That's why only teams with something to gain will join with the S.E.C

the big 10 network makes so much because it is part of the cable packages. it's guaranteed money from anyone who gets cable in the region - regardless if they watch it or not. i'd love to see the ratings because i bet they aren't close to what SEC on ESPN gets. Using this model, I assume the entire state of Texas would get the Big 10 network if they join, but they would have to show all the Texas events. I think Texas might actually be better off money-wise joining the SEC and their deal, and re-negotiating the contract. while setting up their own local network.
