What’s makes it extra frustrating is that he’s actually a really good open field tackler. And he’s great in coverage as far as sticking with his man. Never gets toasted. He just has random brain lapses like when he tried to shoulder the dude in the Florida game, or doesn’t get his head around on deep balls. The ability is there. And he’s usually very good. The bad plays stick out though. Certainly doesn’t deserve to get boo’d. That’s ridiculousHe’s a huge liability on the field ( tackling and coverage). I don’t hate the guy or anyone wearing the orange for that matter. His constant talking and lack of backing up said talking is probably why most fans don’t care for him that much.
I didn’t berate him. He has things within his control (e.g., don’t talk trash when you just got burned, turn your head as the ball is approaching, etc.) that he should be significantly better at as a RS senior. But that’s why I said it’s an indictment on the coaches that they either haven’t coached him better or have a better replacement in year 3. I just rewatched the interception again, and it was a horrible/dumb throw from Rattler. It was 3rd and 22 so Hadden and McDonald were well off the receivers as you’d expect. I’m not sure I would use that as an example of our DBs improving. It was prevent style scheme. I’ve seen enough at this point to understand the frustration. But it doesn't speak to Hadden it speaks to coaching. Which proves you know nothing by berating Hadden.
So your point is shifting because you really don't know what the problem is as it could be communication, defensive play calling, missed assignments, poor play.
Look back at the interception last night. Hadden was in position to stop the first down as well as another player. Best to say in position to stop the play vs he got lucky with Interception. He was where he was suppose to be as well as the other player in under coverage.
Team sport with individual assignments. The defense meet the need by being in position and got an overthrow interception for a TD. We were right for a change and the players were where they needed to be.
It was Slaughter according to announcers. I don’t think Hadden has had any unsportsmanlike penalties this year. But, some think he has 2-3 every game.
The Hadden treatment reminds me of when Arian Foster was here. His mistakes are usually at the worst times, which makes them 10x worse than normal mistakes. He played really good last night , his pick 6 was more Rattlers bad pass but it was a great moment
If he didn’t hear it, he now knows about it.In the pregame roster announcements there was a low rumble of Boos when they announced Hadden. I get that the guy has had some busts that have hurt us but that’s just uncalled for for our home crowd to boo any of our players. Really irritated me.
I doubt he heard it because the team was in the locker room at that point. But the recruits may have heard it and thats a bad look.
I was happy for him getting that pick 6 after that.
Hadden has given up less than 100 yards all season and opponents are only completing 38% against him.
He also has an 80+ pff grade on the season.
Out of position? Clearly you never played the game. SMDHHe was out of position on the interception, Rattler completely overthrew his receiver and Hadden was 8 yards behind the receiver and the ball was thrown right to him.
Hadden talks a lot of trash, collects the unsportsmanlike penalties and regularly demonstrates piss poor play at the corner, he doesn't need to be booed, he just doesn't need to be on the field and if we had more talent and better instruction in the secondary, he wouldn't need to be on the team.
Even on TV and the in studio net work couldn’t believe they flagged us for unsportsmanlike and they also kept asking why. It was with the team and not toward any opposing player. GBOUnless they called the wrong #, he was not the player that was flagged after his TD. In fact when that happened I was so afraid it would cost us, but our D was up to the task. GBO
If you witnessed it then I believe you. After last season I know that Gamecock fans don’t care for Hadden either which is why I questioned the source of the booing. Thanks for clarifying.Very few. They weren’t in the student section though which is where I heard most of the boos coming from. It wasn’t just few boos either. And I saw people in Tennessee gear with my own eyes booing him, so move along.
Improving, words it all starts with Coaching. Who's playing, Defensive scheme, communication down to the player. If he is not good enough for you then so be it, but who are you going to replace him with comes down to a coaches' decision based on what they see as best available. Don't berate the player because players have no control of who plays and who does not. New term for Vol football is Woke.I didn’t berate him. He has things within his control (e.g., don’t talk trash when you just got burned, turn your head as the ball is approaching, etc.) that he should be significantly better at as a RS senior. Man, I was disappointed in that booing as well. Like, I get it, people are frustrated with him. But don't actively boo our players at our games. They need us on their side to perform well. I also also extremely happy he got that TD.In the pregame roster announcements there was a low rumble of Boos when they announced Hadden. I get that the guy has had some busts that have hurt us but that’s just uncalled for for our home crowd to boo any of our players. Really irritated me.
