Hadden hate

The ball was thrown high right to him
All he had to do was catch it. He can't tackle or cover good

Hadden made a game changing pick 6 yesterday and has another 7-8 games to continue to redeem himself for past behavior and poor play. At this point, I don't know if I can think of another non-QB UT player who has commanded as much vitriol as he has received. Most of it warranted. I would never boo a guy in home stadium, but can't police other fans either.

On side note, I know Doneiko Slaughter has only played in 3 of the 5 games thus far but isn't showing up much on game log. Since I haven't seen any games live and that can be difficult to judge how the CBs are playing if the ball isn't going their direction, how is his playing when he is on the field? Perhaps the biggest complement for a CB is when QB don't throw your way, but he just isn't showing up in the Box Score. ???

Only player deserving of boos is JG.

Lmao. Only time in my 46 years of life i have intentionally not watched UT games. Like many here...i got to where i just couldnt stomach it anymore. Back to back pick sixes at home vs kentucky on consecutive plays from scrimmage to break the 30 year streak of beating them at Neyland singlehandedly was it for me. Finally said "No mas, amigos."

In the pregame roster announcements there was a low rumble of Boos when they announced Hadden. I get that the guy has had some busts that have hurt us but that’s just uncalled for for our home crowd to boo any of our players. Really irritated me.

I doubt he heard it because the team was in the locker room at that point. But the recruits may have heard it and thats a bad look.

I was happy for him getting that pick 6 after that.
Agree!

Hadden doesn’t always give a solid effort. It’s hard to forget the guy who bumped helmets with the USC receivers after every first down he gave up. I was embarrassed that he was a Vol last year and that poor effort had something to do with Hooker trying to do too much when his knee buckled in that game.

I’d rather not hear the fans chant “fk you Beamer” and taunt a team that we should be whipping up on every year. Our football team is at its best when we’re only worried about our football team.
This is well stated. Exactly what I wanted to say. That pick should’ve never happened. Had the throw been accurate, the receiver would still be running

If Haden played every game as well as he played last night this thread would not exist. Let’s hope this is his reset.

Agreed...i felt the same

If you booed Hadden you are either a dumb drunk student or a POS

He was out of position on the interception, Rattler completely overthrew his receiver and Hadden was 8 yards behind the receiver and the ball was thrown right to him.

Hadden talks a lot of trash, collects the unsportsmanlike penalties and regularly demonstrates piss poor play at the corner, he doesn't need to be booed, he just doesn't need to be on the field and if we had more talent and better instruction in the secondary, he wouldn't need to be on the team.
It was 3rd and 17 and the WR was like 9 yds off the LOS. I imagine they were in a zone defense.

That was a complete braindead play call by Beamer Ball. The score was 17-10 before that play. Their chance to convert was slim. There was inside 1 minute I believe, Tennessee had 2 TOs. They should have run the ball forced Tennessee to use a TO to stop the clock. Then punt the ball to Tennessee and try to get a stop with the clock inside 40 secs. That play added with the opening TD in the 3rd qtr changed the game.

I see people on this thread that say he was 'out of position' and that is why he made the play. I felt that way at the time, but then I thought that maybe he is right where the coaches wanted him at the time. We all watch the game and assume the players should be on top of the receiver at all times, but may be in that formation the coach has them in space. The most important thing -- if I'm the coach -- is the player where the D play called for them to be.

At no point has Hadden been as bad as fans and posters here have suggested. Not perfect but not worthy of the disrespect and criticism he's taken.

The one exception to me was the poor tackle effort vs UF. That was terrible. Personally, I would rather see guys make mistakes or aggression than guys playing 5 yds off and giving up easy catches.

Haden leads the team in passes defended and ints.....needs to tone it down but not the pariah y'all make him out to be like you do JM
And the reason he leads is : the other teams go after him. Coaches watch film , they have a game plan, attack the weaknesses.
A little more consistent play game after game and less of the plays that make everyone want him replaced and he can change that.
It’s up to him, put up and we’ll shut up!!

I was at the game with my 8 yr old son and was utterly embarrassed at our fan-base booing. It was clearly audible and several were doing it in my section (R). My little guy asked me why everyone was booing for one of the Vols. I mean, having to explain that some Vols fans are just lousy examples of how to support a team is an annoying conversation to even have. Really pissed me off.
Serious question…are you sure it was booing players?
I know that Bru McCoy gets a lot of of Bruuuuus during a game which has been mistaken for booing

Improving, words it all starts with Coaching. Who's playing, Defensive scheme, communication down to the player. If he is not good enough for you then so be it, but who are you going to replace him with comes down to a coaches' decision based on what they see as best available. Don't berate the player because players have no control of who plays and who does not. New term for Vol football is Woke.
Absolutely true ^. But players have 100% of control on the effort they put forth while on the field and their actions.

I think it’s been established that a majority of fans don’t like his antics or actions and his seemingly lack of effort ( 60+ TD run vs Florida when he decides instead of tackling to run up beside the back and give a lite shoulder bump) at times.

There’s several players fans think probably need replacing by better players but they ain’t being booed!

Hadden has earned some of the ridicule he's received. He's simply been unable to read the room and control himself. Booing him is over the top, but he only has himself to blame.

Yeah I can’t stand the boo birds. Hadden, seems like he’s slowly settling in. He’s got ridiculous potential
Booing a player is bad but slowly settling in is an understatement for him. He’s a senior and should know to turn his head and look for the ball and how to tackle by now. He should have 3-4 more interceptions this year if he would look. He’s good just lacking a few key things he should do already.

No worries! Yes. It was definitely when Haddden was announced. Then when Bru was announced it was much louder and definitely for McCoy. Believe me, I was pretty shocked. It took me off guard. I know he’s not a “fan favorite” in this forum, but didn’t expect actual boos from the stands. Peeps in my area were even yelling back at the boo-ers to stop booing, sit down, shut up, etc. Haha! Kind of funny looking back on it now. Lots of disapproving head-shaking from the older folks too. Boo the boo-ers!

ETA: But it was a little “cringe.” Esp thinking of the recruiting visitors, their families, and maybe even Hadden’s family who might be in the stands.

That’s sad to hear. I’ve probably been his biggest critic these past two years. I’ve repeatedly called him a liability who needs to sit for extended periods until we can coach up his replacement. But to actually boo a UT football player when he’s introduced in front of a home crowd in Neyland is shameful. I have no doubt that Kamal is out there every game trying to do his best as he’s coached. A large portion of our fan base needs to grow up and grow some class. But we all already know that, right?

Congrats on the pick six, Kamal.

It’s not his poor play or the busted plays that warrant the boos. He’s the guy that will get burnt and cost the team 3 scores and then turn around and run his mouth for a 15 yard penalty the next drive. That’s why he gets the boos. He’s a below average SEC DB that stands out there running his mouth like he’s the mayor of Revis island. If he would shut his mouth and play ball I’d bet the boos would stop.
