Hadden hate

I was at the game with my 8 yr old son and was utterly embarrassed at our fan-base booing. It was clearly audible and several were doing it in my section (R). My little guy asked me why everyone was booing for one of the Vols. I mean, having to explain that some Vols fans are just lousy examples of how to support a team is an annoying conversation to even have. Really pissed me off.
Instead you should tell your son about sportsmanship and respect. There’s a reason he’s the only player getting boos. He’s an embarrassment. Not his play, but his actions and attitude. Teach your son about the consequences of those qualities.

He was 3-5 yards away from the receiver. The int was on rattler, not bc Hadden made a heisman play.

I take it you were one of the Booers?

As has been said in this thread. It was 3rd and 17. They were in zone. The pressure forced Rattler to throw an errant pass. Because Hadden was where he was supposed to be, he was there to get the pick and score.

Had he been man-to-man with the receiver like some of y’all think, it would have sailed over his head as well.

I get criticism of him being a ish talker but give the guy credit when it due. Geez.

He’s a great sport and is taught well about that at his soccer academy with their curriculum. He’ll be too little for football. 😊 I’m also a former lady vol and my husband played collegiate golf at David Lipscomb. We’re pretty astute on what being a true athlete and sportsman means. It’s more the watching grown adults act like 8 year olds themselves that’s puzzling to him. 🤨 But to each their own, I suppose, right @EastTNVol423? Go Vols!

And yes, I’m a woman.

Even on TV and the in studio net work couldn’t believe they flagged us for unsportsmanlike and they also kept asking why. It was with the team and not toward any opposing player. GBO
Yeah, they said Deion's team did those 3 times after a TD with no penalty, but the refs are afraid of Deion.

No worries! Yes. It was definitely when Haddden was announced. Then when Bru was announced it was much louder and definitely for McCoy. Believe me, I was pretty shocked. It took me off guard. I know he’s not a “fan favorite” in this forum, but didn’t expect actual boos from the stands. Peeps in my area were even yelling back at the boo-ers to stop booing, sit down, shut up, etc. Haha! Kind of funny looking back on it now. Lots of disapproving head-shaking from the older folks too. Boo the boo-ers!

ETA: But it was a little “cringe.” Esp thinking of the recruiting visitors, their families, and maybe even Hadden’s family who might be in the stands.
Exactly.

Even Milton who has gotten his fair share of criticism and then some got a pretty rousing applause. It was only Hadden that had a definite boo which was distinct from McCoy’s “Bruuuuu”.

In the pregame roster announcements there was a low rumble of Boos when they announced Hadden. I get that the guy has had some busts that have hurt us but that’s just uncalled for for our home crowd to boo any of our players. Really irritated me.

I doubt he heard it because the team was in the locker room at that point. But the recruits may have heard it and thats a bad look.

I was happy for him getting that pick 6 after that.
Well, if he didn’t know then, he sure as hell knows now. Nice

He’s a huge liability on the field ( tackling and coverage). I don’t hate the guy or anyone wearing the orange for that matter. His constant talking and lack of backing up said talking is probably why most fans don’t care for him that much.
He's played better. I have had a lot of I don't like the guy posts. But props to him. He doesn't seem to jaw as much, he made a couple nice tackles last night, the pick was good. I wouldn't throw it at him as much now. He maybe our best cb when he's locked in.

This take is an embarrassment
Guess we were raised a little differently. Nothing wrong with that. However, I’ll stick with my values of actions and humbleness meaning something. Doesn’t mean you have to. Welcome to America. Bet you’re one that thought banks was also a great representative of Tennessee football.

Nah. That kid impacts my life in no way enough to need to boo him. But I can see why he gets it. For two years he’s been the DB with the loudest mouth but yet the worst play. The two of those just can’t go together.

Actions have consequences. It’s not like the fans are out there booing every kid coming through the T for no reason. He’s obviously earned it. Only he can change that. Do I feel the need to boo a 20 year old kid? Nah. But I can definitely see where people take issue with his below average play combined with his above average yacking, taunting, and earning penalties. Oh, and congrats on being a woman. It’s 2023, you can identify as a light switch if you’d like.

Yeah, they said Deion's team did those 3 times after a TD with no penalty, but the refs are afraid of Deion.

For everyone talking about the penalty, it was on Slaughter. After Hadden made it into the end zone, Slaughter walked by a SC olineman in the center of the field and said something to him. He didn’t make any gestures or act demonstrably and the SC player didn’t even react, but the back judge who was at least 10-15 yards behind him threw the flag. It couldn’t have been for his language because there was no way the official could have heard anything at that moment in time with the celebration noise in the stadium. Compared to other things I’ve seen that don’t get called, I couldn’t believe the ref made that call. I agree with others that our defense bailed us out after the kick-off out-of-bounds.

He was out of position on the interception, Rattler completely overthrew his receiver and Hadden was 8 yards behind the receiver and the ball was thrown right to him.

Hadden talks a lot of trash, collects the unsportsmanlike penalties and regularly demonstrates piss poor play at the corner, he doesn't need to be booed, he just doesn't need to be on the field and if we had more talent and better instruction in the secondary, he wouldn't need to be on the team.

Anyone who liked this knows nothing about situational football and probably not much about football beyond watching it.

Booing a player is bad but slowly settling in is an understatement for him. He’s a senior and should know to turn his head and look for the ball and how to tackle by now. He should have 3-4 more interceptions this year if he would look. He’s good just lacking a few key things he should do already.

Guy who needs to look up present day DB concepts.

I don't think it's appropriate to boo a player at any time. I get the frustration with Hadden after he all but patted the Florida rb on the butt as he ran by him and that smack talk may be why some of the refs calls toward ut have been so bad this year. They hear that garbage too. He was so far out of position on that pick 6 that had it been an accurate pass, the receiver would have had a big gain if he didn't score. He needs to be quiet and talk with his game.

South Carolina game is the first time Hadden actually looked back towards the ball during coverage. That will ease his number pass interference penalties However, if coach trusts him. Who am I to judge.

I’m like your 8-yr old…someone needs to explain it to me because I don’t get booing your own team.

Teach the 30 recruits at the game that we will boo them.

I don’t care if Hadden is the worst player we have seen in 30 years, booing our own player is embarrassing and inexcusable.

Anyone excusing these people because “Hadden sucks” or has an attitude problem is probably one that thinks we should fire Heupel because we lost a game and will likely lose 1-2 more before the season is over, and then spend the entire offseason convincing themselves that Gruden will save us.

All booing in Neyland Stadium must end! We got our fix at this point.

Another example of this, Trea Turner came to the Phillies this past winter as a free agent. He came here and he literally had the worst two-three months of his entire career from May-July. Luckily the rest of the team was able to rally at certain points and still find themselves in playoff contention rolling into August.

But even through the teams overall performance, everyone (including Trea I'm sure) was really frustrated with his performance. He would make an error. He would strike out in three pitches. He has a sub .250 batting average. The list goes on, and the boos got loud.....very loud. Fast forward to August, and one notable Phillie fan made a video encouraging everyone at the park to give him a standing ovation at every AB. In the month of August alone he hit 9 home runs and 26 RBIs. Not to mention his fielding greatly improved and overnight he looked the person that merited an 11 year contract out of free agency.

Do I think Kamal Hadden is having a good season? No. Does he deserve any of this crap? Absolutely not.

Deserves every bit of it. Plays terrible and acts a fool.
