Hail to the Washington Commanders

Bear in mind the Skins front office is not the Skins front office from years past.

The McNabb deal, though, makes me think the idiotic impulsiveness is still there. What a total waste of a 2010 2nd Rounder (really could have used Nate Allen) and a 2011 3rd Rounder.

Yep. The McNabb and Haynesworth deals are the sort of thing that can definitely knock a franchise back for a few years. Plus there seem to be about 100 times more questions than answers with Shanny.

I do want the Skins to be good because I want the rivalry to mean something, but I don't see y'all making it out of the NFC East cellar for a little while here.

I know. Even in our biggest flopped season ever, we still finish ahead of the Skins in the division. I'll take that victory at this point.

GL with Snyder taking you to the promised land... Or even the playoffs.

So now you flame away in a rival's thread saying how thrilled you are with your team competing with my beloved skins for the NFC east cellar. My how times have changed for america's team.

GL with romo ever leading you guys anywhere relevant.

wow milo, I've never really looked to you for insight by any means, but this is ridiculous. You went from being a Super Bowl contender to considering yourself victorious because you had the same record as the 'Skins, but because of division records you finished ahead of them. This same Skins team that was fully expected to finish last in the division. That's reaching. Seriously reaching.

Never said I wasn't extremely disappointed, but I'll take minor victories.

And a new coach with a new direction, hopefully towards success once again.

Still, best of luck to you guys getting of the quandary you're in, I honestly do want the Skins to do well so the rivalry can mean something again. I've got a lot of respect for the franchise.

so finishing above an expected horrible team by the tiniest of margins is a minor victory when you were Super Bowl contenders? It'd be one thing if you could blame the season on Romo's injury, but you can't. I'd be much more disappointed as a Cowpokes fan. At least the Redskins performed pretty much to expectations.

As much as the Redskins have sucked in the '00's, they (with the Cowboys) share the same amount of playoff wins. Not exactly a crowning achievement for Jerry.

Nope.

While Garrett may have been Jerruh's golden boy, I'm not yet sure I get the feeling he'll be his lackey.

So what's up, are we gonna have a season next year or not? I can't wait that long to see how he does.

Can't meet about it until March or April. The more likely outcomes predicted are either a short lockout (4-6 games) or they get everything done and no lockout

(goodell is the main one, and perhaps one of a handful, predicting the latter;

the owners are lamenting the NFLPA and trying to push through that DishTV still pays them the contract money if there is no season;

the NFLPA has been telling the players all season to save up their money because a lockout is expected, and have given their expectations on it as 75%-90% likelihood)

I think they will get a deal done and not have a lockout of any length. I'm interested to see who the Skins draft

Will he get past the Niners?

Snyder will trade away our 1st round draft picks the next five years to move up and get him......there was talk about moving up and taking Sanchez a couple years ago and I think he regrets not doing so and he wants a franchise QB (I am by NO means calling Mallet a franchise QB)

I think Cam would be great, but thats just me anway set your DVRs

It looks like NFL Network will be airing all of their 30 minute Super Bowl Film Sessions next weekend. Here is the NFL Network schedule for the five Super Bowl Film Sessions that the Redskins were in.

Saturday, January 29, 2011 @ 9:00 PM EST - Super Bowl VII: Miami Dolphins vs Washington Redskins - The Dolphins beat the Washington Redskins 14-7 to become the only team in NFL history to complete a perfect season (17-0). Dolphins safety Jake Scott, who had two interceptions, including one in the end zone to end a Redskins drive, was voted the games MVP.

Sunday, January 30, 2011 @ 2:00 AM EST - Super Bowl XVII: Washington Redskins vs Miami Dolphins - Redskins fullback John Riggins ran for 166 yards on 38 carries to spark the Redskins 27-17 victory over the Dolphins and earn him MVP honors. The win marked Washington's first NFL title since 1942.

Sunday, January 30, 2011 @ 2:30 AM EST - Super Bowl XVIII: Los Angeles Raiders vs Washington Redskins - The LA Raiders defeated the Redskins 38-9 behind running back Marcus Allen's Super Bowl record 191 rushing yards.

Sunday, January 30, 2011 @ 4:30 AM EST - Super Bowl XXII: Washington Redskins vs Denver Broncos - Redskins erupt in the second quarter, scoring 35 points, and defeat the Broncos 42-10. Quarterback Doug Williams passed for 340 yards and 4 touchdowns. Williams is the first African-American quarterback to win the Super Bowl and gains MVP honors.

Sunday, January 30, 2011 @ 6:30 AM EST - Super Bowl XXVI: Washington Redskins vs Buffalo Bills - Redskins quarterback Mark Rypien passed for 292 yards and two touchdowns earning game MVP honors as the Redskins defeated the Buffalo Bills 37-24.

That's the game I watched that sealed the deal for me being a Skins fan.

I don't like the idea of Cam at Washington.

I think Mallet fits Kyle's system. Don't know for sure about Cam or Gabbert as they're coming from a spread. Either take Mallet, take Amukamara or Patterson or trade down.

im not sure if Mallet is smart enough. You ever hear they guy talk? It boggles my mind how that guy got into Michigan. Him and Kyle might clash

I see Cam as a better MV#7, just imo

That was the game responsible for cementing me being a Skins fan back in the day.

How the guy conducts himself in interviews and how he dissects defenses are different. Some people, by virtue of our splendid MTV culture, don't appropriately represent themselves in a particularly acute manner through talking. Some people go out of their way to cover a very dull intellect with a high dialect. I don't buy stock in a vocabulary.

If he interviews and the Shanahans are suitably impressed and he scores a 25+ on the wonderlic... that should put this to rest.

Regardless of that, I 100% do not buy Mallett's prospects on the next level. He is the prototypical SEC qb with an NFL-ready skill set that always seems to be a bust.

I think Gabbert will be an excellent Pro, if he lands in a system that can utilize him and not try to reformat him. He never should have gone to a spread offense team. With that said, as long as Mallet's hard-working (and everything that entails), he'll have a nice career. He reminds me a lot of Kerry Collins. That's about the type of career I expect he'll have. He showed definite flashes against very good Bama and LSU defenses.

Speaking from a strictly "Shanahan" mindset (as best I can assume here), I think Mallet fits their mold best out of all the QBs available if he does well enough in his interviews and scores well enough on his wonderlic.
