You expected anything better out of our fanbase? Hell, Fulmer was allowed to turn UT into Kentucky South before people finally dropped the slobbering sycophant act with him.

If only Pearl had turned our basketball program into Kentucky South.

George Washington took America to another level, and we see how poorly that turned out, so I can see your point.
I'm just glad Dickey did the smart thing and hired Buzz Peterson instead of Jay Wright. That would have been a disaster.

You act like MH doesnt support Bruce. How do you dream up those conclusions?

Imagine how terrible things would have turned out if Dickey had hired Tim Floyd, Rick Majerus, or Leonard Hamilton instead of Wade Houston. Oh, the horror.

There aren't many coaches on the planet who could do that.

Is this the part where someone starts listing off old Tennessee coaches that couldn't? If so, spare me.

If Pearl's tenure has shown anything, it's that Tennessee is a ripe program for huge success. There's no reason to think a quality coaches can't have success here, besides Pearl.

I agree but am not ready to give someone else a chance unless Bruce demonstrates he's not the guy.

Funny how things suddenly got better as soon as a guy who hated basketball wasn't making the hire, isn't it?

So basically Pearl can get any punishment from the NCAA and UT will still keep him.

If Pearl is suspended for a year, they should fire him. Simple as that.

Has this ever happened to a coach that continued to coach even after suspension?

It is simple. They are not going to fire Him. Sorry.

I don't think you understand: they're also saying that Hamilton won't be the AD in three years.

It's like I said earlier. Pearl suspension = Hamilton firing. If Hamilton is fired the new AD will make firing Pearl his first order of business.

its true pearl took the program further than any other......its true that pearl screwed up and a 1 year suspension will hurt the program and recruitment.....why all the name calling?

Mike Hamilton should be fired. He screwed up the football and baseball programs and football, baseball, and basketball are all being investigated by the NCAA. Hamilton needs to go now.

You are asking too much of the crowd dense enough to buy Pearl's act. We know having been off the road for two years won't hurt recruiting. Look at the wonders going to Israel instead of being at the summer tournaments did.

Yeah, that top ten class really sucked and losing out on Selby really hurts now that he's tearing it up with the Jayhawks. If there's one thing you can count on from hat is that, no matter if it's proven incorrect, he'll return to any point he tried to make previously and use sarcasm to try and disarm your argument, to make you feel stupid with his condescension.

As for keeping Pearl, it's a no-brainer for Hamilton. No way he survives with Pearl fired. There's also no way it doesn't affect recruiting and it will be a laibility. I much prefer keeping a known succussful quantity than hiring a promising individual, although a year off might be a bit of a stretch.

Some people on here have their head so far up Pearl's ass, it's sickening.

Just as you and your group of Pearl haters are blinded.
Years ago the Boston Globe head lined their sports section with " Is now the time to trade Larry Bird". When
Red was asked about this he replied " the fans aren't going to hang me ".
Pearl is every bit as important to us as Bird was to the Celtics. Why some of you want to go back to 13 to 16 win seasons is beyond me. If Pearl leaves then we need to imediately put the curtains back up for the extra seats will not be needed. Pearl made a mistake and nothing can change that so get over it. I hope Pearl will
stay until he retires because we stood by him.

Who was the football coach, who led the Vols football program to 2 losing seasons in his final 4 seasons? It is amazing how forgetful of facts that some people have become.

Yeah, look how terrible the Celtics history is if you take Bird out. Oh, wait. The graveyards are full of indispensible people.

1) If Pearl is suspended for a year, he did much more than the media is reporting.

2) If Pearl is suspended, he's gone. Hamilton won't make the decision.

3) With Pearl out, Hamilton out.

4) IF UT basketball (in large part thanks to Bruce Pearl) finds a good coach, the program will continue to thrive.
