The plays he made were not amazing plays. Replace him on the field and someone else could have done the same thing. Others didn't make those plays because he was on the field. His production is easily replaced.Sorry, but you are wrong, brother. And that is precisely the point: he showed up and made plays when others didn’t. He did more of that last season, obviously, but he still made plays for us this year. Many, many others didn’t.
Nobody is MAKING them play football. This argument is so passed stupid. Name one coach in the history of football that's changed schools 3 times in 4 years. These kids are morons, and only morons like this stupid nil crapExactly. They are all contractors who can bid their services.
I don’t blame them a damn bit
They’re an Inky Johnson odd hit away from not achieving all that’s in front of them.
Let's take this from playing football to academic achievements as high school recruitment.
I have a son who was identified in grade school thru the Duke program as off the charts. When he went to the graduation at Duke we were stunned he was one of twenty Anglos in a group of five hundred grade schoolers in the program that day.
He went on to achieve a perfect score on the ACT at the age of 15.
States and schools lined up to offer all types of aid for him to attend their programs. The state of TN offered all expenses to include a stipend. Was it the best or even in the top 10. No it was not.
He chose an Ivy League school for his college degrees.
Could he of transferred at any time? Could he of asked for additional benefits at any time? The answer was yes he could.
Was he told he couldn't do internships or do research for private businesses?
The answers to these are of course not as they benefited from his achievements and would do whatever it took to keep him in their programs.
His special skills have provided wealth not only in money but experiences very few people will enjoy in life.
How is this different from elite high school athlete's?
Wait... you honestly think that your degree from UT benefits from how well the football team performs? Do you truly believe that there are employers out there who give a damn about the record of the entirety of UT sports and how well any team from the athletics department performs?Buddy, that University is making millions off these players. They don’t get TV contracts and sponorships for their grades.
Your - and my - degree benefits from the university having a national brand
Quit your whining
William and MaryJust like Lou holtz said. Players today are about entitlement and privilege. Not obligation and responsibility. I don’t care how much the university, or the coaches make. You are not entitled to their money. Don’t like it,don’t play. Nobody is made to play college football
Yes let’s pay for the education others are paying 100K for, let’s pay for the best housing on campus, let’s pay for the best food you can get, let’s pay for training/medical. Let’s give them the platform to make it to the NFL and make millions(more). Let’s treat them differently than everyone on campus(I attended UT). Yes let’s pay them millions before they’ve ever taken a snap. Then let’s let them bend us over a barrell by talking to other schools every time the portal opens. All sounds great. Some if this I agree with, but when is to much to much?
I’m not seeing the problem. People are paid on potential. When I’ve hired people I paid them based on what I thought their potential production would be. I fired them if they didn’t met it.
Why’s that bad? I’m failing to see your perceived problem
In 1999 The NCAA found that Holtz and his coaching staff knew of academic fraud and other issues. ND was placed on probation for these violations for two years. What crap do you have first hand knowledge of
The difference is, you hire someone and if they don't perform, you fire them and no more money is paid out. The way I am understanding, like Nico for example he is to get $2 mil. per year for 4 years or so I am told. If he can't perform the at a satisfactory level it doesn't matter he still gets the money, because it's not tied into his playing. it's name, image, and likeness. I could have a misunderstanding on this. Correct me if I am wrong.
Not sure what the other issues are, I’m sure he’s the first coach to ever know of academic fraud within his team. Not sure any of this would “gag a maggot “In 1999 The NCAA found that Holtz and his coaching staff knew of academic fraud and other issues. ND was placed on probation for these violations for two years.
Subsequent to this, the ND administration issued a huge crackdown on academic qualifications for athlete's. Holtz took his ball and went home.
ND football was not the same after this.
You can do any additional research you require yourself.
just block the jackass I did. "I couldnt care less" what he thinks. In 1999 The NCAA found that Holtz and his coaching staff knew of academic fraud and other issues. ND was placed on probation for these violations for two years.

They sure do. They donate millions to Universities because of their Athletic Programs and have educational buildings and school programs named after them.Wait... you honestly think that your degree from UT benefits from how well the football team performs? CONTRACTS. This isn't fair to the team nor the coaches trying to build the team. CFB is dead in 3-5 years if contracts aren't a thing. Coaches can't even recruit to fill positions of need, because they never know who is next to leave. College football will lose quality coaches to the NFL as well... it's why you'll see more of these flashy former players becoming head coaches because no one else wants to deal with this garbage.
