Have none of yall ever negotiated a pay raise?

Whites stats, his Freshman year was more productive then his JR year of 34/381.

3048116.0264
6780312.0283
3438111.2245
1311,66512.7683

Bottom line of 131/1665 is his career stats in 3 years. Tell me how Squirrel White approaches anyone about market value or how he is bringing money to Tennessee with a straight face.

Ummm…I may be wrong but I think he helped us win some key games.

Too many are scared of success, therefore settling more like "slaves" is the preferred option.
To in any way draw a comparison between the slavery of our dark history with the state of college football players is the single most ridiculous, uneducated, and hurtful post I’ve seen on this topic.

Public education has failed an entire generation (or two).

But that’s how players felt a few years back. Taking to social media about fighting in arenas for rich people. Many articles have been written on the topic and lawsuits have been filed called the “slavery clause”.

False Dilemma. Free agency is a capitalistic concept.
I would disagree. Free agency is an aspect of a labor market and isn't exclusively tied to capitalism, which implies private ownership of the means of production or services that are offered on the open market. These players are the workers who are finally given some degree of freedom from restrictions and institutions who have directly and exclusively benefited from their labor for decades. The players have received benefits historically via scholarships, and other living expenses but the magnitude of the revenue produced for universities, conferences, coaches and administrators just simply hit a threshold that the workers wouldn't tolerate any longer. It's a bit of a mess and I expect future guardrails will help resolve at some point. But it isn't capitalistic. Moreso is a labor revolution. Other economic models besides capitalism (some which preceded capitalism) also have had labor markets in which individuals could or can go from job to job, whether employed or contracted at their discretion.

You get a pay raise by showing your value and then getting market comps to justify your worth.

Some of yall need to realize Portal players can come back.

I don’t blame any kids getting a raise or renegotiating.

A great early lesson in how pure capitalism works
Nope. Military then self employed. I paid myself what I wanted/could.

It works both ways.Go into the portal and the school can drop you like a hot potato.33 percent in last year’s portal never found homes.

Thats a 2-way street some are getting the GIT talk, when it comes to money. These collective s are serious, and I would say some of these kids were told you're NIL will be re negotiated and a lot of them I would bet were negotiated down and they left. I would say they will not be let back; we have 25 real good HS recruits coming in and they will go out and get select portal guys to fill needs. If they really wanted any that left, they would have paid.

Hope we upgrade at WR. Availability is your greatest asset and they were never available and when they were they weren't getting open.

Did not know that. That's a pretty big number. A lot of young people just got a lesson in supply, demand and worth.

I'd be curious to know what the percentage of guys who had scholarships but were told to move on was before the portal. Not everyone worked out who got scholarships before, so I'm not sure 33% isn't about average attrition for athletes.

Thats actually where the problem comes in...to go performance based they almost gotta be employees.. without that we are gonna be stuck in the participation/popularity award zone. I think they should have a rookie salary cap...as a freshman you can only get up to a certain amount amount period no matter what.. and you renegotiate after your first year.
I agree and I think you’ll see them seen as employees eventually.

Dabo, this is the other color orange board. Sorry.
Why would you let someone quit the team and then come back when the grass wasn't greener?

If they leaving for money, no chance of coming back. Leaving for playing time, situation would still be the same if they came back so why would they.

You run a business? I feel bad for folks that work you. 🤣🤣. Everyone, all college coaches , all ADs , all NIL are idiots except Mr. East TN Elon Musk 😜😜😜
Once again attempted insults as you stumble trying to make a coherent sentence for a stance on an issue. Speaks volumes.

You don’t have to go to the portal to negotiate NIL. The premise is stupid. Offers are being made to handlers constantly.

Cannot be justified. Don’t try.

Would you ask a player to leave so you can try to get another player to replace them, then ask them to stay when you can't?

If so, is that different than a player testing the waters for a better deal then coming back if they don't get it?

It needs to go both ways. If the team can try to recruit over a player and fail to get a better a guy so they keep the guy they have, a player should be able to try to get a better deal elsewhere then stay with the team if they don't get a better offer.

Nope. If you tell a player he needs to leave, then we are done with him. We dont ask him back regardless. If you can't get someone better, you could get someone just as good or leave the spot open for the next opportunity.
