ESPNU blasted Hammy and so did Jay Williams.Maybe Tn wont lose the 2 Guards,Ware and Jones but Im still hearing Mcrae is gone.
Dead on. I see it and hear it in his interviews. His charisma papered over his shortcomings. Now he's just an average coach who sometimes wears a silly orange jacket who looks puffy and sweaty. He's lost his leadership of his team as well.
Thanks for the good times Bruce, best of luck in your new career whatever that might be!
numbskulls--including many shortsighted UT fans--have been bashing him daily over this incident for, what, 12 months? Congratulations. Let's not complain when they hired a clean coach who can't win. I'm not defending what Pearl did, but everybody knows that you gotta push the envelope some to be competitive in this sport--Cal is a genius at not getting caught and rest assured he's done worse than Pearl. It's a pretty greasy sport. Calhoun got nailed with several major violations--and then got a slap on the wrist--a whopping 2-game suspension plus I think one lost scholly or somesuch.
#4 just means Hambone's pulled his wish list of coaches out his desk drawer and read through them1. Bruce Pearl's tenure at UT will be a net gain for the Tennessee Basketball brand. That's why he should get a check on his way out the door.
2. While I admit I enjoy seeing Pearl publicly eviscerated, Hamilton could have handled this better. The players deserved to play the season out without further distractions.
3. People who think Tennessee can't hire someone capable of sustaining Pearl's success and building on it are out of touch with reality. Find me a program with Tennessee's facilities and a 2.5 mil per coach that isn't winning.
4. UT has done a good job working the back channels already in the search for Pearl's replacement. This process is much further down the road than it appears outwardly.
No he didn't. He said we're not going to publicly flaunt that we have no integrity and that the image of our sports programs is immaterial to the university as a whole.Roving gang of volnation is back and on the prowl. Calling people stupid in creative ways.
You wrote a diatribe showing that the university is upholding honor and integrity by firing Pearl. That is incredibly naive.
They are firing pearl because keeping him would harm the chance of winning games and making money in the future because of NCAA penalties.
College basketball is the furthest thing from upholding honor and integrity. If you think UT is isolated from that, you are naive. I'm not sure how to make that more clear.
