Having Sufficiently Gloated, Some Serious Thoughts.

I mentioned this in another thread, so I feel ok posting again. People speaking for Tennessee's interests have contacted the representatives of at least three coaches to gauge their interest. If Tennessee gets any of the three, the program won't miss a beat.

Lon Kruger
Mike Anderson
Gregg Marshall

Fingers crossed.

1. Bruce Pearl's tenure at UT will be a net gain for the Tennessee Basketball brand. That's why he should get a check on his way out the door.
2. While I admit I enjoy seeing Pearl publicly eviscerated, Hamilton could have handled this better. The players deserved to play the season out without further distractions.
3. People who think Tennessee can't hire someone capable of sustaining Pearl's success and building on it are out of touch with reality. Find me a program with Tennessee's facilities and a 2.5 mil per coach that isn't winning.
4. UT has done a good job working the back channels already in the search for Pearl's replacement. This process is much further down the road than it appears outwardly.

those great facilty weren't able to get a high profile football coach. so why would it get us a good BB coach. we're back to buzz ball.

if they let BP go, i hope everyone transfers.

Find me a football program that has the best facilities in the country and has not done crap the past ten years.....Hmmmm I wonder if you can figure it out.
Just because a basketball program or football program has good facilities does not mean they are automatically going to win.

No one said the basketball coach would be "high profile". The timing of the hiring is substantially different as well.

KO's team looked fundamentally sound last night. Besides setting basketball back 20 years in a loss to VCU, maybe he can come back. He made Devoe look like Westphal.

The Razorbacks have a MUCH deeper tradition than anybody in the SEC, except florida recently, and we see where they have been for the last decade or longer. Or Oklahoma fans, or even bama. They had a lot of success back in the 70s or 80s, and then were bad for a long time up until this year. Look at Kentucky--they were getting shaky until they hired the grease man.

More than KY?

WTF?!

This is a more damning indictment of you, than anyone.

Somewhere in the bowels (assumedly, near the colon) of the KNS, a lone reporter is updating both his resume and his Facebook friends list across a tear-stained keyboard. Struggling to focus on the gray Etch a Sketch screen where he normally writes his blog, but sadly, this time is different - as no candles of adoration are alit, and its amidst the heaving sobs of loss.

The past 6 NCAA appearance money was probably the same amount of money we spent on lawyers trying to get out of this mess the Pearl put us in. Pearl brought money to U.T. by going to the NCAA for 6 seasons but he was also the cause of us having to shell out money to lawyers to fight the NCAA.

I agree 100%, Hat. If fans would take their emotions out of it they would have seen every step in this process play out, which will continue until full resolution.

I have never been comfortable with Pearl's presence at UT, while at the same time enjoying the great success he brought. I have always felt his system has holes in it just like his character. As I have said before, his system reminds me of Urban Meyer's while at UF. It takes a few years for opponents to figure out. After they do there is no Plan B. Recruiting is questionable at best. He lucked up with Lofton, Smith, and Bradshaw at the start and talked Chism and JP into coming after the early success. Other than Harris, that's it IMO.

I have full confidence in the UTAD to bring a winner in here. Pearl helped us get to the next level and for that I am thankful. However, we don't need the baggage if we plan to maintain integrity while winning.

What's worse, worshiping a coach so much you wish ill on the university or hating a coach so much you wish ill on the university.

Seems like there should be a middle ground.

I don’t understand fans who worship a coach so much that they wish ill on the University. I saw it with Fulmer and now with Pearl (2 coaches fired for cause).

Me either. I'm not a Pearl supporter, but I've never wished any bad on him, or the program because of it.

Just because a basketball program or football program has good facilities does not mean they are automatically going to win.
Find m a program with crappy facilities that wins consistently.

Despite peoples dislike of the man I have never seen anyone wish the program harm. You are welcome to cite examples.

I do like CBP and still do, he has done a great job for UT and after years and years of BB just being a side note he brought it back. What he did (lie and trying to cover up) is grounds for termination not just in coaching but anywhere. That being said I hate to see him go and wish hime the best and would not have been upset with him staying.

What MH's comments mean to me is he is 100% trying to distance himself and save his own a#*. Whatever he has in store for Pearl he should have kept his mouth shut until after the season is over!

Reveling in the harm of the university is the same to me.
Posted via VolNation Mobile

He asked who is reveling? The current crop of Chicken Littles are all the guys going all Solomon and rending their garbs over the coach that put us in this mess. Most who are advocating change seem to appreciate that Coach Pearl put is in a spot to be successful moving forward.
