HBO's "Game of Thrones"

Never been one to feign tactical knowledge but...

No it wasn't..The Dothraki are notorious for their charges. Nobody had ever stood up to one. It was used to show the utter futility of fighting the WW army of the dead. And it worked perfectly. The greatest calvary fighters in the history of that world were defeated in less than a minute.

Book reader here... I enjoyed it.

I will say I wish they made the battle a closer fight and included the actual white walkers and those, rather than the wights, attributed to the deaths of the characters except Lyanna. But I didnt mind the ending. Arya is a badass in the show and books. Totally didnt see it coming

I wish they would have incorporated the White Walkers more too, but I don’t think many outside of Jon would have had a chance fighting them.

Arya’s story arc has been leading up to that moment from the beginning, which is what I think a lot of these salty comments are forgetting.

I mean that it didnt seem so lopsided right outta the gate. Heres what I would like to have seen. Please also note, I liked the episode

I would like to have seen the dragon glass have a more impactful presence. It felt like a normal weapon for most of it. The phrase that winterfell can hold a 10,000 person army with 500 men didnt seem plausible in this battle. I know the numbers are higher but the ratio should have been similar and we should have seen why winterfell was advantageous as a stronghold on a large scale.

I also would have liked for the known characters to have died by a white Walker rather than a wight so we get some value to the WWs. Then the tide would turn as the NK does his fancy storm stuff and strategy and we end up in the same place but with more emotional rollercoasters.
I think it was supposed to be all NK and his WWs playing it absolutely smart and letting the ocean of the dead just wash the defenders away...just like with all great villains, the NKs overconfidence at the worst moment was really his undoing.

I don't understand how nobody saw this coming..

Arya's sorry arc, imo, had been leading to Cersei and Jon's had been leading to the NK. I'm glad they had Arya take out the NK though

yeah, their biggest advantage was numbers. use it.

there's a reason the NK didn't face Jon on the battle field when they were right htere face to face....b/c he didn't have to lol.

That's why I was hoping for the drag glass to have an effect more intense than just another weapon.

He played it perfect and smart...right to the point that Arya gutted him..lol. Guess they didn't know about stealthy Ninja trained assassins..lol.

i thought Arya was capable. but i think most everyone thought this was going to boild down to a NK/Jon fight.

but eff that..........arya doing it was an awesome curve ball.......especially how they set it up wiht Mel....and the move with the dagger that was originally intended to kill Bran.

just really cool. a great twist.

All it ever did was kill wights...nothing like setting them on fire. I don't think people understand the numbers involved. The army of the dead numbered in the millions. It was an oceanic tide of death.

That scene between Mel and Arya .😳...That is one of the best, and most chill bump inducing scenes I have ever watched on screen. And both actresses nailed it...really they both nailed every scene they were in during the whole show.

First questions...

Why the **** did you put your artillery in front of the troops and why the **** did you start your bombardment while your cavalry screening force was engaging?
Also why is your cavalry on the center front lines? Cavalry is almost always used in the flanks and as a hammer to the holding infantry's anvil.

Also why no entrenchment in front of the infantry to slow the WW charge down? A 10' deep pit with tar and/or caltrops would have slowed them down to something more manageable.

Maybe it’s the TV I was watching, but I never had this issue either.

Aside from it being dark, the way everything was abruptly-cut and closely-framed made it difficult to follow what was going on. I hate it when film-makers do that with one-on-one fights, let alone the biggest battle ever.

My TV is ultra HD and is a year old. What platform were you watching on? I was streaming on Prime.

Couple a questions:

1. I understand the wights dying (for real) when the NK was killed but why the other WWs? Were they all his creations from Craster babies? Thought some had been around a while but he must have created all of them.

2. Asked earlier - why didn't Beric Dondarion get reanimated when the NK did his raising. Thought we might get another Hound/Beric fight?

3. What do we think Qyburn has come up with to attack dragons?

NK created them all. He dies, they die.

Beric might have reanimated but it's the hound and mel in that room only. Wouldn't be a tough situation.

Lord knows what he has but I cant imagine it's an ice spear with an Olympic javelin tosser so it doesnt look too grim.
