HBO's "Game of Thrones"

What ever became of Arya's dragonglass javelin spear-gun?

She used it extensively last night. That scene at the gate where she slayed a ton. It wasn’t a spear-gun, she was able to detach one end and use it as a blade. I thought she gave that Valyrian dagger to Sansa, but that’s what she used on the Night King.

Which does make one wonder whether they will try to rebuild the wall.

It's not like the Dead are a threat at this point. Nor the Wildlings. Nor do they have anyone to man it...
That was the sole purpose of the Wall and there was some mysticism involved. Those are dying or have already died off.

No it wasn't..The Dothraki are notorious for their charges. Nobody had ever stood up to one. It was used to show the utter futility of fighting the WW army of the dead. And it worked perfectly. The greatest calvary fighters in the history of that world were defeated in less than a minute.

It was really one of my favorite parts of the episode, from a cinematic standpoint. Such a perfectly ominous start, the way they were all staring out into the darkness. Then, they got fire swords and you're thinking "ok, let's go!"

The view from Jon and Dany's perspective was great, too... Then all those fire swords extinguished in seconds... This is one my favorite cinematic moments I've ever watched. Positively epic.

Made you want to throw your hands up and say "Thats game..."

Does a wight retain it's fighting prowess from when it was a live person? They seem to be mindless but much of fighting ability is cognitive.

I'm not surprised the army of the dead were defeated by killing the NK. They foreshadowed that last season and the dead are far too numerous for the living to defeat. I wouldn't be surprised if that's they way GRRM does it in the books if he ever finishes them.

But I'd expect the book to be much more thorough. Maybe not Arya. Who knows.

A little relieved to see others had some difficulty with the dark episode format. For a while I was thinking it was me or my tv. Flipped off the lights in the room and that made it much better.

I agree with this completely. Although we're down to the final 3 episodes and it might be kinda hard to change the show in the way the other examples did. Hopefully I'm wrong though. Way too many "saved at the last moment" instances that imo aren't good writing.

All that said, I'm expecting the books to have a much better story and probably some very different outcomes.

GRRM is on record as saying their endings similar

Simple? Basically every great house and most of the people of the North, The Knights of the Vale, The Riverlands, The Dothraki, The Unsullied, The Wildlings...are all virtually WIPED out...SMH...this is one of the dumbest, and oft repeated gripes I am hearing..it makes zero sense to me. The NK is dead and his threat is forever ended, but it left them with nothing...nothing.
I didn’t mean that it was (or easy) in that way. I meant that it seems a simple solution on the part of the writers. It removes that third party from the struggles, leaving only Cersei vs Danny/Jon/remaining allies.

Edit to add: a better word would be convenient, as supplied by bigdaddy above.

hive mentality. NK controlled them all. as soon as the fire moat was lit....all stop. a wave of a finger, zombie bridge.

it wasn't ever about fighting prowess....it was about #'s. the wigts were expendable resources.
