HBO's True Detective

I liked how they teased for a second it might be supernatural. Well played. I thought the episode was awesome.

Just finished. What the hell was that about? Was that a hallucination or was it Rust being able to see a vortex into another dimension? Why would he hallucinate when he's not on PCP or something?

In real life if you abuse drugs such as acid, even years after last taking it, you can have flashbacks. They are moments of hallucinations when LSD molecules are re-released from hiding in fat, or the spine.

Just heard the douchiest story about MM on the Carolla podcast. Just when I was becoming a big fan.

Just some crappy story about a young production hand who tried to approach MM backstage at an awards ceremony. He said, "Hey Matt, remember me? I worked with you on....." and according to Carolla, MM was seated and took a very long pause without ever looking up at the guy, finally stands up and says, "It's 'Matthew'." and left the room without eye contact. LMAO

Celebrities get big heads. It happens. Just one of those things that you hear and it separates MM from the Bill Murrays of the entertainment world.

Always two sides to a story; sounds like we are getting a fraction of a one sided account from a person that may or may not have wanted something from mm.

Carolla is an air bag just like every other talk show host in existence

He's a comedian, film-maker, businessman, the king of podcasting, and best of all, he's a man of principle*. There's a lot more to him than air. He's also really fair with celebrities. He admits he's an *******, and he defends celebrities like Alec Baldwin, etc. when they have these moments people go crazy about. He just hates on the celebs who try to pretend they're nice but aren't.

*Perfect example is the patent troll fight he's putting up. Rather than settle with these d-bags, he's probably going to be spending years in court so that they can't shakedown other podcasters.

I'm only surprised by people that are surprised that a celebrity is a douche. A general rule if I watch or read an interview, and a celebrity has referred to themselves in the 3rd person...there is an excellent chance they are a d-bag. This goes for everyday people as well. Just Jerry's opinion.

So true on all points. Like I said before, I'll still enjoy his work. His Oscar speech when he said he's his own hero is all I really needed to know.

I'm not really that much of a fan to be honest. I'm still scarred from having to watch those romcoms with Kate Hudson in them.

jealous. I wish I was starting to watch it tonight. You should be fired up. Get in a zone. Turn off your phone. Darken the lights and focus on it. You'll get into it quickly.

It starts slow but gets awesome after the second episode

Hey guys! Thanks for the input. I'm just now getting done with the pilot. I really enjoy it so far. McConaughey's character reminds me of reading Aldous Huxley or Kafka. Very dark but intelligent. I'm hoping to be well into the season by tomorrow night.

Apparently Vince Vaughn looks to star in season 2 as a villain, along with 3 other leads. Yes you read that correctly. I like Vince Vaughn a lot, but I have hard time seeing him in True Detective.

Also mentioned as possibilities are, Colin Farrell, Tim Riggins and Jessica Chastain.

I don't have a link bc I'm mobile, but deadline.com has the story.
