Surgery was successful. We've had some issues after but are trying to get them under control. Mostly with pain and nausea.

Baby, mom, and dad are tired.

Will update with more soon.

Continues prayers for comfort and rest. Glad everything went well with surgery.

So awesome to hear that Ashlee's surgery went well. You all have continued to be in my thoughts and prayers through this troubling time. God is good all of the time.

OB must be getting some much needed sleep. Mrs OB texted me this morning that she woke up smiling. Doing good.

Glad for you brother. Continue to pray for MRI tomorrow.

Ha....what's this "sleep" you speak of? Never heard of it. :)

Yesterday was...not fun. Today...much much better. Ashlee woke up like her normal self; happy. She's been eating better throughout the day and playing with her mama on the couch in the room. She even got out in the stroller for breakfast and walked around the hospital.

Ashlee's attitude keeps me sane. She's the happiest little girl 98% of the time. She doesn't seem to have much pain today, if any, and seems as normal as can be. Her MRI in the morning literally will take 5 minutes, according to the MD. They just want a quick picture of her brain to verify what they already belive to be the case and that's that her ventricles have normalized. Once the results have been read and confirmed, we'll be discharged tomorrow afternoon.

I was sure to bring my Nike smokey gray UT hoodie for tomorrow and my UT shorts for tonight.

Don't know if I'll be home in time for the game or even if I'll be able to watch once I do but I'll be sure to pay attention.

Go Vols, buck fama.

I worked at an after school program while I was at UT. I started with a 3rd grade class, and moved with them till they all aged out in middle school. On my first day, this little blonde girl buddied up to me and gave me the full rundown...good kids, problems, etc. She instantly became my pet. I got to be good friends with her whole family. She was a little angel.

About 2 years in, I was chatting with her mom on a Friday and she said "it's amazing how far she's come." I had no idea what she meant, so she explained how ill her daughter was for her first 3 years. She had a lot of pictures similar to Ashlee's. Her mom told me about ordeal after ordeal, but slowly they got her on track...

That girl is now a wickedly smart, sweet, beautiful 20 year old studying design and marketing.

Yall will be ok :).

It means a lot to hear about these kind of stories. Truly. It's hard, sometimes impossible, to see beyond these "bumps" in the road. Each time something new comes up, my first thought is "I'm not going to bury my daughter, she's going to bury me." But then I look at her...and she just smiles or laughs at me and it makes everything alright, even if only temporarily.

Stories like this help keep things in perspective for me.

Thank you.

Hey OB, good news on the MRI results yesterday?

Yes...the Neurologist really liked the results they got and discharged her from the hospital about 1230 yesterday. We were home in time for kickoff.

Among echos of the heart, she'll also have regular MRI's of her head to monitor the ventricles.

She's in good spirits as always and extremely happy to be home. She laughed when we put her in her crib last night.

Thank you all for your prayers and concerns. You're all awesome.

This is awesome news, OB.

My mom had brain surgery many years ago for something very similar. She had a fluid-filled cyst between the lobes of her brain and had to have a shunt put in to drain it.

I am so glad they caught this and were able to come up with a relatively quick solution. It's amazing to see God's hand at work in your family's life. May His glory shine through you for all the world to see. I know we see it on here.

Back in the hospital for another surgery. Ashlee began running a fever a few days ago, took her to the MD, said it was likely a virus but we needed to consult with Neuro. They weren't in office this week and suggested we take her to Vandy ER and have her checked out.

Long story short, they're going back in to clean out her incision site. Her white count was elevated but, thankfully no bacteria was present in her cerebral fluid so they have her on IV antibiotics for the time being to stomp out the potential for more infection. The biggest risk is spinal meningitis.

Really tired of these updates. Hopefully, prayerfully, this is the last one.

Prayers appreciated. She'll be going back for surgery in about an hour.

God be with Ashlee and your family, OB! Poor baby has had such a tough time. I'm sure you and your wife are drained in all aspects too. Stay strong, Vol brother!

OB, know you have an army of prayer warriors praying for your sweet girl and your family as well.

May God be with Ashlee and the doctors both now and to carry her beyond this time. Amen.
